how do i get missions?

I know that im meant to scan and go to stations, but after flying around for like 20 minutes, no missions were available for me, do i just have to get lucky or am i doing something wrong?

if you mean mission needed to build HQ then it depend what start option you choosed ,some dlc start this mission different way than basic game.

just missions in general, I started with one of the base game starts (i forgot which one) and i literally had no missions to do whatsoever, i don't know if i got unlucky or i just did something wrong lmao

There are little yellow symbols on bases on the map. Click on them to see what missions they're offering. Oh you may have to travel around a bit, but as you go, they'll become more. The thing is missions are based on what factions actually need, they're not just randomised for no reason.

as Peacemaker said yellow icons over bases ,also when u open mission tab on ur map u can see missions available in this sector .
HQ mission should appear from scanning an leak on station in sectors near place where u started usually.

Another tip: mission offers get refreshed when you change sectors, and so, if you're not getting many in your current sector, just cross the nearest gate or accelerator and then come back (I'm not so sure about superhighways).

yea also from my experience its good to fly closer to stations and discover stations in sector ,not sur eif undiscovered distant stations send offers too,but i definitely got mor ein sectors where i discovered many stations .

You need to be in range of the station giving out the mission for it to appear in the offers panel (it's a bit more than the radar range, about 50km).

Have you checked mission manager? I bet there's a few in there lol. Also just above mission manager it shows you available random missions in a sector. The same thing the UI tells you basically. And you can get plenty of missions from scanning stations. You should hear their sos long before you see it on the station.

you also can unlock allot better more faction specific missions once you get reps with certain factions and can start joining some of the "guilds" there can be trading missions, war missions all sorts and those typically pay allot better then the randoms u find
