I Need Better Guns....
A Good Carpenter Never Blames His Tools. Okay... So I'm not a Good Carpenter :).

Seriously though; My understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is that the Split Gatling Gun is The (or, at least, of of the) Best Guns. However... I don't have access to that gun... yet.

I've been jumping around from the Terran Proton Barrage, the Pulse Laser, and the Bolt Repeater. But none really seem to get the job done. I'm jumping between the Nemesis and the Katana; trying to determine which is best (for me), and trying out different Weapon Load-Outs for Maximum Damage. But, thus far, it's taking 3 to 4 passes against Xenon Ns to take them out. That just seems to be too much; especially when I'm often dealing with 10 or so Xenon Ms and Ns at a time; they cut me to shreds before I can bring down their numbers :(. (Thanx Goodness for Terran Shields; they take a Moment to ReCharge... but they give you a LOT of Juice.) :)

Anyway... Sorry for all the Yak Yak... Any suggestions on Weapons to Use?!?

Also... I'm thinking of using Beam Weapons on my Turrets... I've been having issues with Stray shots Ticking-Off my Allys, and they are definitely coming from the turrets; I'm hoping Beams will help: But any advice here is Welcome Also!!

4 pass with a katana with terran proton?

You sure your hitting all your shots

Unless it a P all the small fighter get deleted

Unless your goal is to "git gud", consider switching the aim assist on. (It's under "Game Settings".)

And, yeah, Terran medium proton barrage should be eviscerating small ships...

One of my favorites is the Beam Emitter with the Slasher mod (+damage %, +reload speed %, -cooling %); if you can get a high enough % for the reload speed (re-roll), it becomes a continuous laser beam. :-D

Katana with proton cannons is best in term of speed.
If you dont have access to them then get dragon with 6 lasers if you fight agains fighters, if against frigates and bigger, get mortars on it, 6 of them wipe out anything on ship, if not, just shot again, if then no, then you deffinetly miss and shot better... Good carpenter use not one tool, he have many tools for many tasks, you just dont get them all.
Also I use auxillary carrier to store all my ships at one place and have ability to call reinforcments in case of problems. This allo repair on the go And it allow resupply my ship with mines and rockets if needed. Also my carrier have tier 3 hull upgrade agains radar detection, so enemy most time not see it or see when it passing gates if sattelites present nearby...

Bro, me and my dad are Solo contractor's. i for sure in the hell can blame my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tools.

You know what its like to spend 250k on a broken skid steer and loader? ....

any ways yes more guns.

I should probably mention I always have 2 sets of guns... so (for instance) I would use the Proton Barrage x2 and (perhaps) the Bolt Repeater x2. So... first issue is: it sounds like I should be using 4... not 2.

As to the Aim Assist... Oh Yes... Always On... and Oh No... I miss a lot :)>; I'm usually trying to avoid too many hits, so I'm Barrel Rolling, Strafing, and Evading as much as possible; but hitting (I'd say) at least 60% of the time. (Okay... Maybe I should have mentioned that as well. :)

Okay... I think I'll go back to the Katana, and go with 4 Protons. I prefer the Katana mostly because it Looks more Formidable... and I get 2 Co-Pilots. However... I like the extra GunMount on the Nemesis for Missiles; but Missiles don't seem to do much anyways; but I still like firing them - LoL :).

Fill your combat ships with service crew, they improve overall performance, e.g. turrets, specially with AI pilots.

I like to throw one Argon Ion Blaster onto my ships. It takes down shields faster than anything and then the repeater/proton barrage weapons can do their job on the hull.

@Conrado: I do have a full Crew on-board; however... I have been planning to ask: does it Help, Hurt or Neither to give the Service Crew Pilot Training. I'm working on giving all my Captains pilot training; but have ignored the crews. Also... the Beams on Turret do seem to solve the problem of Stray Laser shots... but they don't seem as powerful as the others; Especially Flaks.

@Ryno: Using 4 Proton seems to have done the trick; I'm doing Much Much better with taking down Xenon Ns and Ms... and even Ps don't last as long. However... I may give your Ion Blasters a go; it would be nice to be able to drop their Shields quickly; then go in for the Kill. Not to mention that may also help with Corvettes and Destroyers. Corvettes aren't too much of an issue, especially if I target their HardPoints; but Destroyers are a massive pain; even after taking out Engines, Guns and Missiles; I barely scratch the surface of their Shield Modules; let alone the Ship itself. But, at least, it's a Sitting Duck by the time my Destroyer 'Finally' gets there :).

My preferred setup: kuroakami with 1 Argon Ion blaster Mk2, 4 Ter Pulse Mk2, 2 Argon Flak turrets. Resistance is futile 😝

About turrets on small ship, if you going in big battles where npc fighting same enemy as you, then laser or impulse turrets, if you fight alone then flak will be nice or machineguns also not so bad. Or you can use plasma turrets against big ships.

The "shotgun" wpns in this game are extremely underrated. It's extremely good on corvette ships. For your ai ships, you can also give em muon charger. The ai is really good at using em

Makes no difference since service crew use Engineering as their main skill. However, service crew level up their morale quite fast, so it's a natural place to look for new pilots.

In my opinion, in corvettes turrets serve the function of harassing the enemy target, depleting their shield and preventing it from regenerating, not dealing raw damage; you have 4-6 main weapons for that!

I gotta admit, that sounds like a Dream Set-Up; sadly, however, I couldn't support the Yaki, So No Kuroakami for Me :`(.

I used a Shard early on, You're correct... UnderRated. With perfect timing you can drop and N or M in a single pass (Dropping their shields with Other weapons while closing); *And* the Shard actually makes a Great Crystal Mining Weapon. But on a Corvette with their Lack of Range and the Corvettes Lack of Maneuverability (vs a Fighter) I had to get rid them; but I do miss their 'Sudden Death' Intensity :).

I gotta admit... 4 Proton Barrages works the best... I'm taking down the Xenon faster than ever: However... I'm actually going with 2 Argon Ion Blaster and 2 Terran Proton Barrages; while the 4 Pros are faster... the 2 x 2 works very well for my Game Style. I like attacking with one set of weapons to bring their shields down... then switching to the next set of weapons to tear down the armour; (And the Ion Blaster Seriously Makes short work of their shields). While 2 Ion Blasters actually take down the shields faster than 4 Barrages... the Ions do nothing against the Armour, and the 2 Barrages aren't as good against the Armour as 4 Barrages (Obviously)... but with the Shields down I'm still doing Much Much Better; and again... It works great for my Play Style. (Not to mention I've switched over to Flak and Shard Turrets, and once the shields are done, they cut like a Hot Knife Through Butter; though I do have to Disable them while Friendlies are around).

Now... if I could just learn to Shoot Straight - LoL; and before you ask... Yes I'm using Auto-Aim; but when I Spray & Pray... I probably need to Pray harder :D.

And an Additional Thanx to all others; I'm hoping (assuming) the changes I also made for my Wingmen will make a difference for them as well. Especially since they're just Pure Fire Frenzy... No Show Boating! - :D.
