Formations and roles

I usually prefer follow plus whatever formation is most skilled. This because if I need to escape in a hurry my fleet isn’t off wandering into a pack. So I stay at a safe distance to bleed their numbers. What is your favoured fleet arrangement? It seems to matter most during engagement. After that it’s mayhem with ships in every direction. My modest fleet consists of 1 destroyer, 3 frigates, 1 heavy fighter and 2 fighters. I man a frigate and dock the fighters there when not in use.

wish fleet would stay in formation in combat especially for capital ship but my fleet formation would be 1 super destroyer 4 carrier -8 destroyer all escorted by various ship from fighter to bomber
