Is the mission set to active? Push M and make sure the mission is gold. It should guide you right to where you need to go.
Man playing this game makes me miss another universe where I can actually build the games rather then play them. I'm missing the Star Wars Universe game I built in another universe. After I heard all those people playing it, I knew that it couldn't have been built any better.
The guy you need to speak to is Rick Feynman on the bridge of the Oberth if you are on that part of it. Have you tried talking to him even if there isn't a yellow pointer.
It is of course possible that if you left the game a while back halfway through a quest line it might have got messed up...
