Yes, as long as you have the Equipment Blueprint for the modules either purchased or "borrowed".

I use Argon Turrets with Teladi Shields.

You can place them however you want, every module in a plot is considered to part of the station. Usually, it's more practical to place them connected, but with scaffolding you can let the imagination go wild and still have an underlying structure.

Sure, go crazy! In my last terran playthrough, for example, I used Argon housing modules in terran stations because of their capacity.

All you need is the Field Goal™ D-FENS system. This baby will take care of all your needs:

All Xenon dead or your money back, guaranteed.

I might as well post the Honeycomb since everyone is posting their designs.

I don't bother with M turrets and shields and just fill all L slots. That's more than enough to deal with everything the Xenon send.

I generally fill the M slots with tracking turrets loaded with light interceptor missiles.
They don't do much damage individually but they also have a nearly 30km range and only take ecells to make with closed loop economy, so it's no trouble to supply a station with them even if it has hundreds of missile turrets.

Get enough of them and even K's and I's die long before getting into L plasma range. And since pretty much every non-dock module comes with M turret slots you don't even need defense platforms to give your stations some very nasty firepower.

I don't need range. The station is already close enough to the gate that all turrets can fire on anything that comes through it right away.

You stick them full of interceptor missiles because you want to fill half the sector with missiles, not because you need to. Or at least that's why i do it.

did they ever fix missiles with oos combat? have not used them in ages on defense stations because they were not working

If you stick to Argon parts you can use the Closed Loop system to manufacture them, meaning which simplifies your logistics.

On my side, i use disk defense module when i build on the "Y" axes and the bridge when i build on the "X" axes,

by exemple, if i build a section with 32 module of circular docking module, i put one docking module, one disk defence module over it, an another docking module, an another disk defense module over it, ect..., like this it's give defense all around the docking module and they attach well togheter,

same for the bridge defense module, i put it between two module to give her protection, you can make an heavy castle like this...,

but, even this, they have always ship they can attack you at far distance and they can destroy your base easily without you station can shoot a single shot on her because they are too far, such as the "Xenon I", so, even if you put million of turret, a single ship can kill your base with million of turret very very easy...

i have never had a problem with xenon outranging my stations but most races main batterys outrange all turrets except missiles, if your fighting main factions its recommended to at least have some missle turrets (even if they may not be effective oos, u can still teleport there for problematic fights if needed)
blackphoenixx Jun 1, 2023 @ 2:12am
Xenon turrets have a maximum range of 5.5km. They barely outrange L beams, but certainly not any L turret you'd actually use against capitals.

Any other non-Rattlesnake destroyer can, but that's what dumbfire turrets are for.

Yes, they were fixed in the 6.0 patch iirc. Pretty recently anyway and they work OOS now.

Thanks guys  :x4spacesuit:

I am going to go crazy now, building the weirdest eclectic stations the Xverse has ever seen :D

I know i love to mix teladi, argon, and riptide parts for heavy industrial look, also makes for great looking pirate stations
