Yeah, who am i kidding, i always start from miners ;D
Buy minimum preset miners and traders, you will need to add a mining drill to the miners.
Gas miners will be better to start with, then regular miners and traders last of all. Traders turn less profit, especially at the start of the game due to preset station prices. If you do get a trader you can trade refined metals, and water for a decent profit.
You can buy a mako with medium preset, and still have over a million left over for other ships. Boron Herald start has the highest starting funds of any game start outside of custom.
