Gaining reputation with Terran
For a start I'm not getting why an Argon starts off with a -15 rep with Terrans.

So from what Iv'e gleaned shooting criminals near Terran stations in Getsune, Saturn, Jupiter is supposed to be the best way to do this but it's going painfully slow.

Nearly 2 hours of play and only 2 criminals have showed up. I got one, but the station security got to the second one and destroyed it before I did.
This is NOT a good use of time. It's not like you can do much else, you cant trade cause you aren't allowed to dock at their stations.

I got lucky (or so I thought) getting a random mission to disarm 5 mines round a trapped Terran ship. I only got -1 rep point for that so 2 hours and my rep is at -13.

What can I do to speed this up? cause at this rate its going to be another 13 hours really boring play of just hanging around waiting for crims to show up.

Can I hire a pilot to hang around and shoot criminals instead of me? If I deploy some laser towers near the docking ports will that work?

They have a history... For instance, Argon agents blew up the defensive ring-station around Earth some decades before the time of the game. Also, Terrans have an insufferable superiority complex and like to meddle into everybody's affairs (which you'll see when you progress through the terran missions).

Maybe a typo, but you should be looking for Terran stations.

In my opinion, hunting criminal shuttles (which can't be delegated, unfortunately) is a very inefficient way of improving relations. My suggestion is to get a fast ship with a Mk2 long-range scanner (e.g. a Pegasus) and map terran stations to get missions; ones that are fast and easy to complete, such as mine destruction, criminal hunting, finding lootboxes, scanning resources. deploying satellites etc.

First, you'll want to concentrate on Terran stations, if improving Terran relations is what you're aiming for.
Second, rule of thumb: Once you've killed a criminal in orbit of one station, fly to the next station and try there for a couple minutes at most. If none turn up, change station again. Keep rotating through the stations in a system that way.
Reason for that is that there's a cooldown interval between criminals turning up at the same station, which can be very long. It's more time-efficient to move between stations regularly.

Obviously, the more stations in a system, the faster you'll be able to collect criminal kills.

I noticed that once you blow up a criminal at a station, they don't seem to respawn if you stick around, or if they do, I never stayed long enough to find out. I would go from station to station looking for a criminal, and when I got to the new station, the criminal would pop out fairly quickly. Once I can finally trade with them, I let miners get my rep.

What reputation level can I start to trade with their stations?

I have been flying around from station to station already.

Is that also the same for being allowed access to Earth/Moon/Mars sectors? or do I need higher rep for that.
I guess like a lot of people I want to be able to buy their ships. from what I understand Earth sector has their only wharf.

You either need 10 or 20 rep for earth and moon - I forget.

However, getting rep with Terrans is pretty straightforward. Many of their factories want massive amounts of Ore, Silicon, and Hydrogen. Get miners to fill those stations (especially in the Oort Cloud), and you will be getting rep quite quickly. You can also set up some traders to sell protein paste for rep and good money.

Sounds like fun. :lunar2019grinningpig:

I have not come across Oort Cloud yet, where is that?

I waited in Neptune with seta for missions to pop up. Went from -15 to plus 14 in an hour or two? Just take every mission. There are a couple that give you 6+ rep. That's what I'm doing now with all the factions (that I can). Get friendly, but their tech and maybe wipe them out at a future date?

Oort Cloud is the far southwest corner of the map. Keep going south and west through the Terran sectors till you find it.

Sure thing! Great source of ore and gas, and pirates and Kh'aak leave that sector alone for the most part.

Kha'ak can't actually spawn an outpost in most of terran space (except asteroid belt)

So you can actually safely mine in Terran space with no issue.

I call the Terran sectors tutorial island :steamhappy:

That is really useful to know Wegadin and Wraith.

Somewhere safe to set up extensive operations :D
