Autotrade dont work ?
I can go with repeat order and buy\sell goods with profit on local stations, but if i enable autotrade of same item same ship same place - it tells me that no way to find any trade offers
So autotrade for nomoded game is not working at all ?

i've the same issue for automining - it's also seems to be broken. The Miner start and fill their cargo, but then they'll staying all the time waiting. If you're using repeat order its functional

Autotrading is pretty dependent on skilled pilots. How skilled they are determines how far away they look for trades. So a 0 or 1 star pilot can only mine/trade within the same sector. So their usefulness is pretty limited. Need to hire skilled pilots or train them before using auto mode. Better to put unskilled pilots in service of a station manager who can send them a bit further away.

It works, but it has some intrinsic restrictions such as only buying if the seller's price is low enough and selling only the buyer's is high enough, restrictions that you can bypass with repeat orders by setting prices manually..

we are talking about autotrading (zero stars required) in 1 sector - it simply don't work at all

i have 2 star pilot , 2 statons near ( THIRTY KM ) and 1 good ( 209-270 coins)
BUT autotrade says it's nothing in this sector, but repeat order sells stuff every 2 min for 7k profit- what is this if not bug\not working core mechanic ?
i think it's main reason why u can't play without QOL mods - just no profit of your ship empire if they can't earn coins

There are things that will prevent that from working:
a) sector is not what you want it to be. It's a basic check, we check everything when stuff don't make sense.
b) you have items in the cargo hold not related with the traded item. It will block the trader.
c) you have the same items in the cargo hold. Maybe it does confuse him in local sector autotrade - try with empty cargo hold
d) range of profit is not as good as the AI wants it to be. Just because you are willing to accept a 7k trade, doesn't mean the AI does. I'm not sure of the range, in other games the AI would never buy anything over 50% (average price) even if it could sell it at 100% price. It needed it to be 49% at least.

Trading ai is absolutely broken. In x3 when player start trading script, he have cleare view what and how trader ship will work. In x4 start a trader is always roulette, player has no ideas what happens in trader's brains, and have no control over it. Mods repair this problem, but not 100%. I believe there is something broken in trading aspect of the game, and cannot be repaired even with mods.

I do not share your view. Apologies. My traders find trades. The only trader I don't use is the local sector, because why wait? Repeat orders is fine. Maybe the issue is with the Local Sector Autotrade, so ***** that and use repeat orders. Especialy since you seem to like that option, it makes you profit.

I have no problems with it, but it is far from transparent.
With your Autotrade OP, are you attempting to trade different wares?

It's also worth pointing out that you cant see if stock is already spoken for by other AI trades.

the autotrade sux by itself - its for noob pilots and this is the reason why you wont make millions with it, just go to trade station, run through all the trade areas and buy cheap pilot seminars, make sure you will have at least 2 stars in general - so hire somebody with already some progress in piloting and some morale and run the fill shortages ops, then advanced autotrade. Running vanilla version and you guys are probably playing different game, nothing seems to be broken with trading, if there is a problem, there is usually a reason for that problem and the game tells you that, but you wont listen anyway...

It's good than you are at the beginning of your game. But imagine that you have 100 trading ships. You should always remember what each ship doing if you want replace it, upgrade it, or fullfil loses. Also you can't sell good to several consumers, can't buy from several suppliers, can't do a lot of things. Repeat orders is good thing, but it cannot repair everything.

But when it does work, how will you track the changes and replce when shot down etc? This is a different problem, right? Not one about autotrader not working.
Naming your traders is what I suggest for keeping track of them. YOu have to come up with a naming scheme you like and follow it up with all traders. I've used the same for years and I can find missing traders faster and know what I'm missing and thus replacing it is faster.

If I have 10 traders named like "Mercury Energy Cells Factory #1 to Saturn 2 claytronics factory #2" it will blow my mind. Yes it is about organising, but mostly about autotrader not working, because "autotrader not working" is a cause, and "organising" is an effect.

I disagree since at that point and scale, there is no reason not to use trade stations, massively reducing the complexity of your trade network. Autotrade is priciply small volume and early game function.

As far as I know by players posts traders assigned to stations don't work too. Didn't test it with vanilla trade my own, but when i assigned trader to build storage it did nothing.
