Targeting with the xbox controller

Anyone having issues with targeting, mainly stations? I remember back in 5.0 and lower, all I had to do was push the "A" button when I was centered on something and it would be targeted. Now, it seems, I have to center on something, like a station and wait till the white square reticule before I can target with "A". Not a big deal but say I am targeting a station and I fly say 15km to the next one, I can't target it and pushing the a button on the controller just brings the previous stations info that I was targeting before. Ill try centering on a gate and wait 5 or so seconds for that white reticule to pop up then target it but centering back on that second station and nothin. White reticule doesn't pop up and pushing a just brings up the gate info.
