how long will the economy take to close gaps?
my save game has over 4 days of playtime in it. i have a few mega stations and a shipyard with 6 advanced electronics production fabs already and not much space left to add more. It seems like the game economy only has 3 or 4 TOTAL advanced electronics fabs in the universe which is shocking. How long do i need to wait for the game engine to create more factories?
i dont want to be the sole supplier in the universe, my station is already gigantic and the internal supply lines in this game dont work well. the ai is too dumb.

It depend on the resource status of claytronics and hull parts

In my universe where it plentiful the AI went on a building spree and prospered

This is a common mistake - people seem to think the economy should do it all and then you can do what you want - this is true to an extent but if the question is "how long" then you could do ALOT more to make this happen while still benefiting.

The AI is not dumb, it reacts to what you provide it - the AI is not the dumb one if it is being constantly left in deficit, nor is it dumb when it uses the SAME rules you have to stick to.

SO!!! pick a shipyard, send it hull parts, send graphene to the hull part suppliers, FEED the economy with the essentials that are the shortages causing the bottleneck or stasis to begin with.

The internal supply is only as good as the supply and demand it has to work with.

The economy won't fully self correct without player help. It's not a matter of station numbers but of traders and miners that are available to the faction. If 4 stations don't have supplies to run and are constantly empty then doubling that or even quadrupling the stations won't change the issue.

Find an AI station and track the supply lines. See what it needs and why it's not being supplied that ware. Once advanced electronics are no longer the bottleneck to ship production they will back up and you will see supply go up. In order to do that you need to make sure that they are actually running.

so i tracked one of the THREE advanced electronics fabs in the galaxy. and the only buy order they have is for 200 energy cells. so something is clearly wrong in the game economy. why are there only 3? and if there are supply issues, why are there no buy orders? im making 10 times the amount of AE as the entire galaxy.
I feel like it shouldnt be my job to fill this entire gap. whats the point of the AI stations if they cant do anything?

The three stations are still there, so they're doing fine. The question is, why aren't there others? Is there any sector with microchips and quantum tubes? Are they producing chips and tubes?

It sounds like you've got tons of cash. Just make a station that produces AE in a location you think would work. Don't produce anything else, just the electronics. If it works out, well, you've plugged the hole. If it doesn't, it will probably be because of a shortage of parts or there won't be any demand - and then you'll know why the AI isn't making them.

I can tell you I moved into Cardinals Redress and it was a backwater. There were maybe six AI factories in there. I set up mining operations for ore and silicon with about 6 free miners a piece and then added a station with 5 silicon wafer and 4 refined metals modules and its own dedicated miners. 4 days later there are about 20 AI facs in there making every kind of advanced good imaginable.

If you feed the AI facs, they seem to be able to do the rest. If you’re only making enough to feed your stations the AI will probably just stagnate.

that depend on the randomness of the game station layout as well.

My previous Terran game had the Commonwealth faction being able to feed themselves with no intervention whatsoever from me.

I think the only two faction that struggle was HOP (they had no methane)
Even ZYA had a decent amount of reserves in their shipyard (but they were getting attacked by Argon and Xenon)
