I've had that happen to me once. Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix it. I just went to make dinner and coffee while I wait for it to crawl to the jump gate.
If you really want, try restarting the mission by loading a save game right before you started the mission. It might "fix it".
Its called Accompany the Dignitary
i have to escort the ship from arg food ration factory to arg solar power plant.
It appears to be going there on its own but now that we are way from the station its still going no faster than 50m/s
I tried going out ahead of it but it stays going 50
edit: ship is called incarcartura vangaurd if that matters at all
It paid really well for an escort mission. I don't recall having to deal with spawns like escort miner mission spawns A LOT of Khaaks that kill the miner ship in seconds.
It took a while for the ship to be escorted to get its destination though. Just wait it out.
Or you can create a Seta upgrade, and use that to advance time.
These X games has a lot of random missions that are just there to give you something to do and most are just more time consuming versus other types. And others are just impossible for the sake of being impossible. You'll eventurally learn which are which.
As for escort missions... the higher your fighter rank the more dangerous the attackers and in X3... no one would bother with them, unless they needed to friend a race that was currently an enemy just to spawn enemies into a given sector.... so they could kill them and get friendly rep for the sector.
This game is slow and a lot of quests take this time.
If I play X I have usually a clean flat. :-)
Seems like escortees never use travel mode (same happens with the miner escort missions), so it kinda makes things a bit exhacerbating if you are escorting an L size vessel.
If you have some extra ships, just give them an order to defend that vessel and forget about it. Unless the mission takes place at some dangerous sector, such as Hatikvah's Choice or similar, it should likely just be fine to delegate it to your other pilots.
