SPOILERS! is anyone else disappointed with the Kingdom End quests and rewards?
Is Cradle of Humanity going to be the peak of all the dlc forever? The boron ships are neat and everything but seriously the quests in this one are just severely disappointing. the best one IMO is with the Sanctuary of Darkness. I thought they were building up the Kha'ak actually being a threat and being a lot more than they appear but it went nowhere. and the herald quests were not the worst but the rewards are actually pitiful in comparison to COH and TOA (depending on what route you take). Even the reputation rewards are awful, seeing as how it didn't even get my rep to +20 it just stopped at +18. the only "unique" reward is the Hydra Regal but it is only a slightly buffed Hydra. and at the end i was hoping for a Ray or something but the 18mil was not worth it as late game that is not that much. The paint they give at the end is neat but i wish those paint rewards they give could be default paints instead of just x10.

This was just my experience, i'm sure people love these quests. I just hoped for some quest improvements and a better story but i was very disappointed.

I forgot to mention the noticeable lack of any real choice making.

I personally think that the idea of giving some guy a destroyer after completing some quests is riddiculus and while I enjoy the Syn I received from Terrans, I definitely do not think I deserve one and I'm happy that Boron dlc didnt went that crazy with rewards.
I got a lot of credits after herald missions so hey, I think thats totally fine.

I got ton of money so I was actually happy

Allows me to invest in what I want instead of some random ship I might or might not use

Seemed good to me. You neglected another reward, though: Boron station parts. Those things are really handy! So many connections on every part!

I think that the story needs more development. During the quest to reach KE, there are a lot of interesting themes presented (the mystery about how the gates work, the Kha'ak in SoD, the missing Xenon, Boso Ta's reunion with his people etc), but they never got anywhere meaningful. I do hope that future updates bring more content in this direction.

It feels like they had some big ideas that got gutted as they got closer to the deadline. I expected the Xenon station to wake up, or an inactive gate to turn on. I also expect the kha threat to be bigger with how much it was emphasized and not expanding their fleet with some new ships was a missed opportunity.

I approve of the Syn only because it was supposed to be junked (for whatever reason, it appeared to be perfectly fine). Personally I like "world building" missions and enjoyed the mission style for Kingdom's End. I very much liked having actually directly *affected* part of the universe.

I totally deserve my Syn.

Terrans: We need you to build a station and buy a fully kitted out ship. So if you could get on that, it would be great. Oh money? Uuhm, well .. don't worry about it we're good for it. It's for the cause you know.

To be fair that's for the covert ops part that deals with Antigone. I think the reward for that is some several million. The Syn comes from dealing with the Yaki, flying down to pioneers then flying back up to the Yaki. I kinda agree I don't think I deserve the Syn so much, but having to invest a bunch of money upgrading it (if you want to) helps offset that some.

The syn is not bad of a reward from a lore perspective given the achievement and impact of our work. The problem is it's not pan out very well in the game.

I feel the Terrain story if it's a TV series or a book, would pan out at least several year or even a decade. Your rise from a cadet/merc to a deep operative agent, to earning the trust of the Yaki is no way a mere 2h journey.

- You probably fought a ton of battle against Xenon over years and rose to a captain/major before secret service notice you.
- You probably spent the next few years investigating and unconvering the Yaki's infiltration of the Pioneer government.
- Then spent years following that trace, exploring Xenon space to find the Yaki's base.
- Then probably spent another few years as a deep operative to earn the Yaki's trust until you learn about their secret.

So by the time you report back to the Terran space, that report could very well be your "life's work", that has a momenteous impact on Terran security. With many of those years spent working on the dark yet still remain loyal to Terran interest.

So yeah, a "wash up Syn" might be still a bit unusual, but hardly outrageous reward. The problem is the game pacing doesn't fit any of that.
Wraith May 10, 2023 @ 8:13pm
Pretty sure they just say it “wash up” as an excuse to give it to you

Like everything points to the SYN being in good condition.
Even the lore on the Ship say it operating side by side with the Osaka and isn’t really being shelved like the other ATF ships

I totally agree with the pacing, especially over the time frame given. If there had been more events or have it drawn out over a few more missions here and there (without being a grind), then it would be more rewarding I suppose.

With the Kingsdom's End DLC, I also feel like there's still something left to be done. Feels very much 'The Boron are here!' and that's it. I'm pretty much encouraging them to fight the Zyarth in Heretic's End (took over but abandoned Watchful Gaze so they have something to do. I likely will abandon Heretic's End as well at some point, if only to encourage action there :P

They take over Watchful Gaze on their own, you don't need to claim that sector.

For heretic's end, that will work.

You're right they will, but first game I didn't know and they took it (felt bad they took it) - Next game with a harder seed I took it first and then realized they were just going to be lollygagging in their own territory. So... I debated and deleted the admin module. The struggle between claiming everything and having a good game state lol.
