I believe the OP is talking about ship modifications, not mods.
@OP, usually mass reduction modifications for chassis, weapon recharge speeds for weapons and shield recharge / capacity for shields, forward thrust enhancements for engine performance. I have mainly been putting ship modifications (at the least these ones, minus the weapon mods) onto my freighters to marginally improve trading speed (as I don't have a vast enough collection to outfit my military fleets).
I'm not sure if my selection is the on the right track, but they'll likely serve you well with your destroyer. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I'm on the right track.
For chassis, Purple Nanotube or the green Polisher one will work.
For shields, capacity and/or recharge. I'd go with capacity on the XL shields since it's a percentage and boron already have a lot of shields, taking that further seems crazy. Recharge delay for the M shields.
For Engines, Nudger with 43 - 44 forward thrust and the closest you can get to -25% travel thrust. (It will still increase travel speed) Or, if you have purple parts, Slingshot with as close as you can get to 30% forward thrust and 50% travel thrust.

Thanks. I get confused with the chassis and engine mods. I've only put some in my personal Hydra so far and that buffed it right up lol so I'd like to get it spot on for my carriers.
It means it always gives those extra modifiers.
