But yes, the Boarding can be janky at times. Dont ever try OOS Boarding, defense turrets develop sniper like qualities then. -_-
Boarding a ship would be a nearly impossible task at the best of times, wouldn't be hard to hole up in a corridor with a turret and 4-5 people, and just mow down anyone who comes through the far door.
The crazy losses I like to contribute to the ship's crew doing something intelligent, like spacing a section of the ship the boarders are in etc, just blow the airlocks and throw them out, lol.
Boarding isn't difficult, keeping the fuzz and military away is more an issue -- the jerks.
If you're boarding a ship with a lot of service crew, you're likely losing to their total crew quantity vs. your marine quantity (as pointed out by others). The skill of your marines will reduce this quantity threat. If it's a smaller ship, they're beating you because your marines simply aren't good enough.
You can mitigate the quantity problem on ships with high crew counts by using the maximum amount of marines you can fit into THEIR ship. I would suggest using a lot of m-class corvettes that can hold a lot of crew - m-class are actually really, really good at boarding in medium to large numbers (ignore the naysayers, try it - they're a lot more versatile than other 'more capable' ships).
I would attack construction ships (a sizeable group of m-class can take one on without too much effort) and freighters. You should be able to bag some poorly crewed destroyers though (keep using your m-class ships instead of your destroyer though, it'll slow you down).
A good way to make them come to you is to buy some claytronics in your m-class -- have all your boarding team follow you around and wait for them to find YOU.
Good luck!
