Why are loot crates the single most devastating weapon in all of X4?!

Seriously, someone is paying me 50k credits to go get 1k worth of beef when they could just go buy it on the station store, and if I miss my shot that crate will one shot my ship...

Please tell me there is a weapon in the game that just shoots these crates at enemies! I'll have the Xenon scrubbed from existence by lunch.

If the AI was actually coded to attempt to loot crates like the player, I can just imagine you flying through Xenon territory dropping boxes, singing, "Here comes Santa Clause, Here comes Santa Clause..." *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*

I hate those missions though and i dont think after 2.5K+ hours ive got the achievement for it but in my eyes there`s quite a few missions i dont bother with that need tweaking.
I think some lock boxes have mines in them so if you blow up the box and not the lock you go boom with it.
The trick is and i expect what they want you to do is get out and shoot the locks from your spacesuit, it`s time consuming but zero risk unless you get zapped by a passing xenon/Khaak

If I'm not mistaken, the sole reason for X4 was to add gratuitous "time-consuming" to the game. The whole "get out of the ship" idea, is/was/and will be, just a very expensive(for the devs), TIME SINK.
However; this game itself is just a way of killing time, so...
Hopefully, we can mod this game and add our own missions. I think we got to that point in X3, so maybe it's possible to edit out some of those suicide missions, and have some more productive missions.

Precisely why I don’t bother with achievements. They often want me to do some boring counterproductive task that’ll suck the life out of any game.

Yep. I never really understood the concept of achievements.
"Hey, here's an achievement for playing the game while standing on your head!"
Um, no. If it's alright with you, I'll just enjoy what I paid for, my way. :)

I like the achievement for playing X4 whilst wearing no pants smoking a giant spliff and wearing a tin foil hat its called Programming the Autopilot. lol

It's worse than that.

Some boxes have bombs strapped to them, those will explode if you miss.
Some have tracking mines. Those will explode... only if you have wasted your time opening the box correctly.

Egosoft way to say thank you for your time, now go f* yourself.

I think I'm beginning to understand the game is actually a gigantic trolling experience. They really don't want us to play the game, they just want to frustrate us.

I bet it's a ploy from the German gov to push people away from video games.

I too get this nagging feeling every time I attempt to play this game, after waiting YEARS for some improvement in the game mechanics. Graphics be danged.
