Farting around the system. Changed both order and default behaviour to same system Grand Exhangce IV (because we need 2 behaviours, right, egosoft? why not complicate everything).
changed it from ore to silicon.
there IS a buyer for silicon in grand exchange I, there is TEL SILICON REFINERY II.
now back to watching my fantastic captain in his spaceship poot pooting around the system for hours.
this is such a superior game to X3 (NOT)
First you need to find Buyers and make sure they send you up2date Trade Info at all times... just place a Satellite near every Refinery, be it Ice, Silicon, Ore or Teladianium does not matters.
Next, order any old Miner you have to Locally Automine in GE, no matter if it is Ore, Silicon or Ice... or even any of the Gases... there should be Consumers in any of the Grand Exchange Sectors.
Lastly... lean back and watch your Miner do its Job.
If your Miner misbehaves there is at least one requirement not fullfilled... as i am unable to Mind Read... it can be everything... from not marked Customers to unknown Resources.
Fly around, find Resource Regions, find Customers, deploy Satellites (mandatory), deploy Resource Probes (optionally)...
OK, trying this now, just plopped 2 satellites, 1 each next to each refinery buying silicon.
The other option is getting +20 Rep with the faction and simply buying the "Show me all your stations trade offers" thing from the faction rep. At that point sats arn't even needed anymore for that faction's stations.
So placing sats is more of a getting started thing that fades as your empire gets fully up and running. Still worth doing if your struggling to find trade offers though :)
Again got the "awaiting orders".
Eh
It is always 0/ 9,000
I sincerely wish it filled its cargo with whatever so I can manually sell it.
It is useless. I am beginning to hate this game, and am thinking about going back to X3
just as I type this, the ship changed its default behaviour from HOLD to Local Automine Grand Exhangce / Grand Exchange IV
it changed default behaviour on its own.
W T F
now it is flying to GE IV......
this is comical
when you buy minimum preset, the mining drill is missing from its equipment.
didn't know used car salesmen are still going strong in the far future.
I think I am missing the drill laser. off to argon wharf to buy it. lets see if that is it.
It's worth noting that buying equipment from an equipment dock is almost always cheaper than buying it from a wharf. That said, buying from a wharf as you buy the ship is usually more convenient.
that's like saying that I will sell you a car, but the engine is steering wheel is missing.
or a tire.
anyway, got another bug, now I do not have NPC traders at trader's corner. in every station.
this game is a gem. a masterpiece.
Why are you going to the NPC traders? I am confused. You should be able to do 99% of the game without leaving your ship.. And you don't need them for selling mined goods. Traders work essentially 9 to 5's. If you show up in the middle of the night, they won't be working which is probably what happened when you barged in.
Plus, you only need to visit them for very specific reasons like space suit upgrades, selling loot (inventory) and buying seminars to train your crew. Also, if when/if you are finished doing your business in person, all you have to do is press Shift + D to return back to your ship.
From everything I've gathered here in your thread, sounds like you aren't ready for the tasks you are trying to do and are frustrating yourself by doing too much too soon. I'd suggest working through the tutorials (Press H in-game) as a lot of the misconceptions you've had already were covered there (like needing satellites for auto-traders) and taking things slow. Rushing the learning process is only going to hurt your experience..
All this stuff is nothing new from X3 either. Not sure why you implied X3 is somehow better with handling things like mining and trading. Sure, you can do those things in X3 but its seriously like 10 times harder and requires far more steps to do it. Either you've clearly forgot or are regurgitating bad information you've heard about X4 being worse than X3. Everything in X4 is more streamlined and easier to do and is a complete overhaul of X3 in every way. We even have tutorials this time around and can do most everything right from the Map using a mouse--no commands necessary.
It's really as simple as buying a ship, setting it up for mining, exploring out some sectors, laying down satellites to places you want to do business then right clicking on your ship and turning on auto-mine/auto-trade. To do the same thing in X3 takes way more time and is far more complicated. For instance, mining in X3 required building actual mines on asteroids, then buying ships and decking them out will all the special (expensive) software, then setting up satellites, then setting up all the commands to sell mined goods. It was brutal.
