Avarice doesnt make any sense
Why would you want to live there? Just leave and build a new life just literally 2 jumps away, where the star doesnt try to kill you every hour, where water is for everyone, where you are not oppressed by an evil syndicate?

The Argon government would surely welcome refugees, especially of their own species and they also probably have social healthcare and demand for workforce because they are in a constant war against the paranid, xenon or split.

It literally takes 5 minutes to fly to freedom and a better life 😂

I have no remorse choosing the syndicate every time, the people in avarice just want to be abused or are completely stupid.

There is no place like home...

I don't know if 'needs workers because of constant war' actually sounds better lol.

You could say the same about real life. Why does anyone on earth starve if they can just move to where the food is?

Lore-wise the gates were connected recently. There hasn't been time to migrate. Also given that VIG are a Syndicate... they probably all "owe" debts and are afraid of leaving.

Better than starving to death or getting burned by that star

It would've made more sense, of VIG were actively shooting down anyone who tries to leave, but that is not the case.

Would've given a lot more unique gameplay opportunities like "transport refugees to a safe station without getting scanned by VIG" missions

Okay but if they flee to Antigone or Argon Prime, the "debts" they owed would be invalid, because no serious government would allow this in their legal system

Sure, my point though is how are they going to flee? Through the swarms of fighters in every sector of VIG space? You think VIG would let them go without paying?

I mean you have to keep in mind also that the game isn't really mechanically set up for a case like that. Probably the extra work in scripting specific refugee ships that get blown up just outside the gate by VIG would not really be particularly worthwhile. And then, like, what happens if you stop the VIG ships and the refugees can get out—are you just deleting a faction from your game (integration with Argon) or what? Moving it somewhere else? But its whole economy is designed to work in Avarice.

Realistically it's probably better to just leave some things implied.

Real life is a little bit more complicated, but in some cases I ask myself the same question why people would want to live in the most inhospitable places on earth like siberia or a desert.

It mostly comes down to lack of money and travel distance imho + most states have anti refugee policies.

But we are talking about the future, where these things shouldnt be a problem, except money of course

Thats what I am missing in the game, For now it just seems like the people can come and go without consequences

The problems you mentioned are exactly the problem that are still in the game, not everyone is a pilot or can afford to buy a ship or transport to move like we the player can do. Also who says the ARG will accept refugees? Just look at the Hatikvah's plot line, they did start to work with the ARG but the ARG doesn't help them with their SCA problem do they?

This game is more then just economics it also involved politics between all the factions and races. So it isn't as easy to say that ARG would help the RIP overcome the VIG and it is easy for them to move out of Averice.

I agree, but I wish you could experience that ingame like a one-time event where you see refugees get blown up or if they had dialouge about it.

And when it comes to VIG, they could've made a whole plot around it about how you as a player can fight them and take over their sectors. It already kinda happens in the main avarice plot depending on your choice.

A goal could've been to whipe out VIG and let the Riptide Rakers take over control of Windfall

Besides recent Heraldic activitys ended with a Trade-agreement wich could potentionally turn things arround for the scrappers in Avarice
