Terrible frame rate if I dont restart my pc every time I launch the game
As the title says, I have to restart my pc almost every time I launch the game or else I get 5 or 6 fps in the title screen and just as bad in game. I am using a brand new install of windows 11, a 4090, and a 7950 x3d. All drivers and OS are up to date. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?

You are sure to have 16gb ram minimum? Ideally 32gb you'd want. If that's not possible up your page file size

That tells me that one of two things is happening: your game is not quitting properly (when you quit check your task manager to make sure it actually QUIT. The game is bad for not doing so) or something else is gobbling up all your resources and not giving them back. Honestly I'm leaning toward the former.

Maybe its Windows 11 failure ?, there were some gaming issues within 11, check it.

I don't see how this affects anything. Not to mention that A) page file is a completely outdated thing nowadays with actual big RAM (although SSD helped a bit but still every RAM is faster than the best SSD). Also The specs are 8GB min and 16GB recommended, so not what you stated and with a setup OP has he very likely has 32 or 64gb RAM and prolly DDR5 as well.

And in any case that hardly will explain the FPS drop while in the menu where most assets have not yet been loaded.

Not necessarily. Win 11 here, 3060 TI and 13700k with 32GB DDR5, so arguably worse than OP and I have no issues.

There will be a driver incompatibility though, because otherwise a restart wouldn't fix it, so maybe some combination of Win 11, driver and the game install maybe?

I need to preface this in that I only have a 3900X and not one of the newer 7000 series Ryzen processors. But, as the 7000 series has a built in GPU it is possible that Windows (or X4 itself perhaps) is using the wrong GPU. You can check by going to Windows Settings -> Display -> Graphics. You should find X4 is already in the list, but if not you can add it with browse, make sure it's set to High performance (which should be your 4090). It's probably on auto right now, maybe that detection is going nuts?

May well already be set correctly, but I know this has been an issue on laptops and some Intel desktop based systems (keep in mind the 7000 series is the first Ryzen to include a GPU for desktop) so it's worth checking.

Maybe something AMD related? I had strange issues with my old AMD system too, alot.

I do have 32 gb of ddr5 6000 memory, so I am sure its not that. I will start double checking to make sure it has closed properly.

Another thing I have noticed is how the framerate gets progressively worst. I am running the game on ultra with 2x MLAA. While mining crystals, the framerate starts at 100 or so fps, but after an hour or so it is down to 40 or 50. Forget about SSAA, I cant get over 60fps at all.

Is this normal? I know the game is not very optimized, but I am surprised at this with my system being what it is. I do not have a ton of stuff running, I dont have a bunch of gamer bloatware software running in the background. Generally only discord, a web browser, and a couple other basic things.

No issues here, i5 8600k, 32GB DDR4 RAM, Win 11, 2070 Super

I have the same spec as you. Installing windows 11 introduced so many problem to my pc. First, make sure you update your bios and update AMD chipset driver. You also wanna check device security in windows security and make sure everything is working (Any warnings here caused my pc temp to skyrocket.)

Lastly, dont use win11 power plan (balanced setting also messed up my pc temp). Instead, go to old power plan setting (type "power plan" in search box > choose a power plan), then set it to high performance.

Hope it works for you

Thanks a ton. I am really good at updating bios and chipset drivers, but there was a warning in device security, and I was on balanced power plan. I have had some crazy temps as well so I will give it a try with these settings. Thanks again!
