extra mod files in extensions folder

i keep getting these ws_* extension folder files for other mods when i install some mods, example ws_2901786607 verson 0,01 and four others when i installed simple combat overhaul mod. the extra files are flagged as completely different mods by x4 extensions menu and show up as red, the one mentioned above ius for argonmatt's atf valkyrie - l frigate which i certainly have never installed

The mod you have installed has written in the mods config file that it has a dependency on a mod available in steam. So the game creates the folder but does not download it.

Open the combat overhaul mod, you will find a "context.xml" file. It will list all the dependencies of the mod.

Example

<dependency id="ws_2092839403" optional="true" name="Civilian Fleets: Mimicry Extension"></dependency>

If the author says the mod is optional then you can ignore it and can even remove the dependency. If a dependency is not optional you cannot load the mod anyway.

Thanks very much, it's been this way for a while and i've simply removed the extra folders, and now i know why.
