It'll automatically avoid the hazardous areas and you just have to place nav beacons down every 30-40km.
First you must start at one of the gates. Go inside one of the big orange circles on the map near one of the gates. Drop a nav beacon. This starts off the process. Then hit the autopilot and it will fly automatically to the next gate. Just drop another nav beacon every so often, maybe 30 - 40k like Alberich said. Then once you lay the last beacon inside the other big orange circle at the opposite gate, the mission will complete. You don't need to lay all 15 of the beacons. Some of mine were not even claimed. Some turned blue along the route and some stayed green. Thank god I'm done with this horrible mission.
so i picked the beacons up and started again
beginning by dropping a beacon near the south gate
went north and dropped a new beacon every 45-48km apart following a path through the asteroids
doing this the mission completed for me

Pay attention to the dialogue next time, and you won't die, I mean heck you don't even need to read it here, it's spoken out for you.
To complete this myself, I grabbed one of my idle Osakas and gave it orders to drop 100 beacons along the route(after the game refused to accept my own placement) while it was doing that I went to the bath, lol.
But yea, the mission does tell you to stick to the asteroids, if you have a L or XL you don't need to pay any attention to it, for for S and M ships, yea, venture away from the asteroid zone and you will quickly die, just as you were warned.
I had a kayak ship inbound so must've missed the part in the dialog that said everything outside the asteroids was an invisible hazardous zone i guess, burst out laughing when it happened though lmao
Best solution of them all, thanks alot :D
