What is up with the nav beacon mission in Sanctuary of Darkness.
Something doesn't feel right here. I get it, don't fly into black clouds with lightning but I keep hitting hazardous regions far outside those clouds. The map also doesn't mark locations that are bad and honestly, I'm just confused now. It kind of just feels trial and error where I feel like it should just be avoid the clouds, yet I keep hitting hazardous zones with no lightning or clouds around me. Very confused on what I'm doing wrong here. Am I just dumb or does this feel like it's setup strangely?

Follow the asteroids (red on your map). Everything else is dangerous.

The first time you enter Nala Ti (I think that’s her name) will advise you to stick close to the asteroids, of course it’s a a single line buried in some other dialogue that I missed until I reloaded a save.

Ok thanks, so, my confusion is that it seems the route only connects at the top and not the bottom. That and visually, you can't see some of the asteroids cause of the clouds and I think the thing that threw me off the most is that some of the asteroids have lightning strikes around them, so I'd assume they weren't safe. I did get it now though. I assumed you would aim for the areas outside of the lightning clouds but it really is just go along the asteroid path (or the top red path, the bottom lead to hazards).

I'll give you a hint, set guidance on the inactive jumpgate, then press shift A.

It'll automatically avoid the hazardous areas and you just have to place nav beacons down every 30-40km.

As people said, follow the asteroids, but pay attentio so the next beacon be close to the edge of the previous beacon area (inside it).

And what you suggest me to do when it says Beacon placing failed while in in red zone?

Ok this was a ridiculous mission. I thought I had solved it many times but the mission just would not complete. I finally solved it for real. Here's how I did it.

First you must start at one of the gates. Go inside one of the big orange circles on the map near one of the gates. Drop a nav beacon. This starts off the process. Then hit the autopilot and it will fly automatically to the next gate. Just drop another nav beacon every so often, maybe 30 - 40k like Alberich said. Then once you lay the last beacon inside the other big orange circle at the opposite gate, the mission will complete. You don't need to lay all 15 of the beacons. Some of mine were not even claimed. Some turned blue along the route and some stayed green. Thank god I'm done with this horrible mission.

at first i thought i only need to place beacons in a way that they form a imaginary safe line through the asteroids but i just disrergarded the range between them <- this was wrong

so i picked the beacons up and started again
beginning by dropping a beacon near the south gate
went north and dropped a new beacon every 45-48km apart following a path through the asteroids

doing this the mission completed for me

Pay attention to the dialogue next time, and you won't die, I mean heck you don't even need to read it here, it's spoken out for you.

To complete this myself, I grabbed one of my idle Osakas and gave it orders to drop 100 beacons along the route(after the game refused to accept my own placement) while it was doing that I went to the bath, lol.

But yea, the mission does tell you to stick to the asteroids, if you have a L or XL you don't need to pay any attention to it, for for S and M ships, yea, venture away from the asteroid zone and you will quickly die, just as you were warned.

Just autopilot to the far gate and drop beacons along the way.

I had a kayak ship inbound so must've missed the part in the dialog that said everything outside the asteroids was an invisible hazardous zone i guess, burst out laughing when it happened though lmao
