As a on X4 player I am disappointed
(title)+
It really is sad to me to see Egosoft go the route of charging for soundtracks, and a special dlc pack when in my humble opinion those that supported the game and own all the DLC should have received this pack free.

We all spend 100s of hours a save so I am fairly certain we get our fair share of X4 music, why would I spend extra money on every single DLCs music when I already own them, and on top of that spend another few bucks for a pack? It is not much financially but it is a bit of a slap to the face as a fan. No 'thank you' really meant to loyal customers, just a please buy everything single thing on the X4 page and you can get this ship in time for Ventures and seasons (without real details on it). It irks me a bit as I helped with bug reports and talked with Bernd in passing myself on station management issues. I know many other member have given a LOT of feedback to the team, and this is the 'thank you' we get for buying not only the game but every piece of in game dlc.

No this does not sit well with me and I am open to intelligent debate but won't bite on trolls on this subject. I did not expect this. and as a well paying customer I think that gives me a right to voice my displeasure.

As far as I can tell we don't know many details about that system or if that ship will even matter. The gnashing of teeth seems a little premature to me.

You mean the bonus dlc. It would have been nice for the devs to give it out for free as a gift to people that helped with the testing.

I'm concerned that it feels a lot like a micro transaction which is not something I am eager to see creeping into the product.

That is where I am coming from, not the entitled angle. If it was to made available why not say thank you to the community instead of charge the entire X4 catalog? It is odd.

i heard the music files are in the game files...

All the soundtracks are available on Tidal

I think charging only $15 for the DLC is a great deal considering the prices other companies charge for DLCs with less content. So the additional $3 or whatever for those who want the soundtrack doesn't bother me. It's really more of something loyal fans will buy just to support the devs more than anything else. I mean, who listens to game soundtracks?

I usually turn the music down to 20% in-game so maybe I just don't appreciate it like others do I guess.

one of the tunes from x3 from the Boron territory really stuck with me like an ear worm. Maybe from kingdoms end? Don't remember

Perhaps the special DLC pack could have been offered for free to involved testers, but I don't think that the soundtrack should just be provided for free as well. Just because the game/DLC has music doesn't mean that a separate album of it should be included too. Instead, I view the option to buy a soundtrack to be a way to provide the developer and/or composer with a tip for if you like their work enough.

If people don't wish to pay for those then there's always YouTube, where the composer, Alexei Zakharov, has uploaded his work on X4 for free.

No he is talking about the $5 dlc for the art books and a ship for a new online mode called multiverse that is in testing but I guess going into beta.

oh ok my bad.

Right.

I was playing Spacebourne 2 and saw the replies, thanks gents. Even if you disagree with me I appreciate a good clean debate. The trolls are obvious.

That said I am not talking about finding music files, if I were that daft I would not know how to start the game. I am talking about at the seeming end of a long road the developers are asking that you buy:

-all DLC
-all Music Soundtracks for each DLC
-pay a $5 for I have zero clue, a beer?

Then you can get some stuff to use in some pseudo mutiplayer mode that some people are under an NDA about and at time of the launch promoting said mutiverse seasons there is a lot of confusion, partially due to me drinking too much but I feel even Dr. Strange would do a double take here.

My issue is a lot of us have a lot of time invested and helped the devs out directly in some ways. It was a really cool experience and then for this to drop is a bit hard to swallow. I am not being entitled, I love the game. I am saying what the blip bloop blop is this hot mess and why do I need to buy soundtracks for dlc I own to get this Planet Super Duper, what the hell is it again, dlc? It is odd and really a strange move by Egosoft.

Edit: I have to laugh at some of the trolls, honest laugh. I get not reading or understanding what I am getting at may come off as Karen mode but that is not it. Speak to the manager one guy said, well I have. Bernd actually and he was cool as a cucumber and I liked the interaction. Then the guy threw a custard pie at the back of my head after I had some beers so yeah, a bit of a disconnect and confused here as to why left hand seems cool and right hand is on 'uh-oh, DANGER WILL ROBINSON' style mode. Please for the love of god do not let this be some bs season garbage.

I agree, they should work for free, give us very "special" beta tester money for testing and give the addons for free. Thats how it works...
