X4 or Elite D ? Need Suggestions
ive played elite dangerous for several hours and i found it very tedious with the grind (although i enjoyed it a bit), so i wonder what X4 has to offer in terms of features or probably anything else?

In X4 you don't explore planets. X4 is a lot about management and economy. Managing fleets, space stations, etc.
You also explore the galaxy, trade and dogfight.

elite dangerous was/is annoying. a lot of stuff locked behind paywalls even if you bought the full game.

this one is better. is a full game not like ed where you just jump around the same stations.

on the other side elite dangerous looked way better, the ships are really nice

You want to control from small to big ships? Massive battles? Own a station and make/lose money with it? Be able do help a faction to win a war or be able do the exactly oposite?

Well, yes to those questions means that X4 is for you. Elite just have better graphics and run smoothly since theres pratically nothing happening around you almost all the time.

Edit: Just understand a simple thing; X4 isn't an easy game; you will have to learn it's mechanics, so you can be a little lost in the beggining; but the community is always here to help. :)

Not certain I understand how - are you able to elaborate?? (I do not enjoy the grind-gated aspects, but paywalls?)

Elite has been a (albeit slowly) sinking ship, so no point in getting into it now as a freshie so to speak imho, however X4 is in its prime imho. One focuses primarily on your boat which looks pretty amazing and shallow/grindy activities (although the exploration aspect is interesting, whilst on-foot aspect is simply not worth it imho - majority of the community agrees judging by reviews), whilst the other provides opportunities for large-scale empire management (although you can still jump in and fly the ship). X4 has a lot more features and activity possibilities imho just by design, as opposed to Elite.

You know, not all that glitters, is gold. ED glitters a lot. But in the end, no gold to be found. X4 on the other hand .... :)

last time I've played they wanted money for letting me customize the ship appearance.

I felt I was done with ED after doing couple exploration trips and a little combat. It's coold don't get me wrong but there's just lots more to do in X

i found elite dangerous really nice, but...the big dissapointment of that game is... its super time consuming.. at a rate where i didnt feel like after 20 missions it was rewarding me at all... and i had spent hours of it into learning and doing the missions. they were easy as it is as a noob begginer. x4 in my eyes has it done right. you feel rewarded for your hard work!!! you dont feel like you wasted your time after 20 missions (at that point you might already have a auto miner after 20hours..)

real hardcore = elite dangerous (dogfights are much better, economy sucks a ton)
i would really like to recommned ED but..go for X4 if you really want to play and enjoy it.. if you just want to waste a few hundred hours just to be able to lose maybe your 1 ship cuz of some badass online players.. go for ED..

x4 = late game can have terrible FPS rates depending on your cpu/state of game, much more enjoyable imperium building up, sadly you will get bored real fast after you had your first 1000 hours savegame even the 2nd universe i play is too easy in a new game+...

buy both. in my eyes everyone should play the games. both are great in they´re own ways. you might enjoy both.

Definitely consider checking Eve Online. Each of these titles has their pros and cons, but of all space games, Eve has the most depth, and a lot of polish. It's difficult though, since your opponents are organized groups of people.

the two really are different kinds of games. about the only thing they have in common is a space theme. X4 has a vastly greater scope. you start playing a game kind of like E:D but as you play it becomes obvious that the real meat of the game is what would happen if you could progress to bigger and better things in E:D. build fleets, build factories, build a company, build an empire.

E:D is gorgeous with better fighter pilot combat, X4 comes into it's own and shines like a supernova once you progress beyond that E:D type gameplay.

X4 doesn't force you online or slyly try to sell you stuff. but Elite It does do some nice planetary stuff and it feels a bit more 'realistic' than X4.

I prefer the fact that aliens are their own thing and Humans are all that really exist.

Aliens in X4 are kinda dumb. Borons ok I suppose as they are quite alieny, but their voices are hugely annoying.

Elite Devs kinda killed they're own game, but said this, they're two completly different games, the only things that they have in common are Space and Space Ships.

Elite is Grinding Simulator where it will take ages to get something good, you can go on Planets but they're mostly empty and - tbh - after the bugged af release of "space legs" i completly lost interest in that game alltogheter.

X4 is a Empire Grinding Simulator, basicly you Grind to build your own stations and ships/fleets, sure Egosoft is also not the best with Bugfree releases but still better then FDevs.

i bought and invested time in E:D back in the day and i regret it. Lackluster endgame aside, the UI is really bad you gotta do alot of micromanaging just to upgrade each ship, and the last straw was the carrier add-on, introducing upkeep costs and thus obligatory login for money. Grind or lose your ship.

Elite had so much potential and was said to DB's baby, but they would have been better with a a sequal to the frontier games...I have had fun with it, mining solo and exploring for the most part, but again that whole what could have been...

Anyway as others have said, completely different games as others have outlined.

Elite Dangerous is an incredibly painful grind and unless you're a part of a larger group, you can barely change up the background simulation. Final nail in the coffin for me was dying after a month long exploration trip and losing all my data. Dozens of hours thrown into the trash with no reward.
