Don't think there are. The X universe is quite unique and keeps on getting better.
I can totally see Eve as being a go-to for me, but I crave more games with NPC's that can pilot me around or do my bidding. As of yet, I can only think of Mount and Blade and X4.
I'm sure Eve will reach the point that I am desiring, one day. It's upon the horizon.
It is as I had feared. Only a matter of time though. Gaming and technology truly have come a long way in such a short span of time. I look forward to what the future of space gaming will be in 5-10 years time. 😊
i want to argue with that and claim some use to call eve X Online... but as this was already taken by egosoft them self it had to be named Eve instead. ;)
Well, Bethesda sort of is attempting it. We shall see though. Their Starfield game, to me, looks and sounds like No Man's Sky and X4, but with the Bethesda jank, look, and feel. I'm assuming not a great deal of depth compared to X4, but that's where modders come into play.
And if that kicks off, I feel like players will look at space games in a more interesting and positive light. Ultimately extending some people to try X4 or to make their own spin on a game similar to X4. I can't see any large companies doing it first, but a mid-sized indie company will have to pave the way for the future. Money goes where the player base is, so, let's get more people interested in these amazing space games and show them what can be done if a company actually cares about the gameplay and depth.
I can only imagine a game dev trying a space game like X4 for the first time, and deciding to create a game similar to it. I'm hoping that a spark will ignite for someone to create big, broad, and bold new games on par with what X4 has done thus far. 😊
This is exactly what I am talking about. The development team getting into the discussion boards and roasting the competition, 😂. It shows, to me, that you truly engage with the fan base, and are listening to what we talk about. Truly, a remarkable thing to see.
in the end i'm just your average moderator and a player like anyone else.
*the real devs that are among us (and hopefully not hiding in some vent) are still reading in here though...
You passed the test. I am Egosoft CEO, Mr. Mimesly, and you have won the golden ticket for loyalty. Come on in to the office tomorrow. Just head right to my office and give me a good kick in the balls. I'll be there, and I will act surprised when you do the deed. You earned it though. You've slogged through the community boards, and this is the reward for supreme loyalty.
See you tomorrow at my CEO office. Just storm past my secretary, because she is in on the act. I'll have my ice pack ready for after the deed is done. And then, we will give you the new contract to sign, with promotion in hand. 😊
Graphics is easy. always has been.
AI?
HAhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Hence the tall order. I'm thinking, 10 years, we will be playing in a vastly different landscape. What can I say... I'm a Belieber. (^_^)
Maybe 5 since AI seems to be suddenly getting better. it all depends when it gets incorporated into games. I've heard a couple of big companies are experimenting with the idea.
My joke missed the mark, I suppose. Regardless, you are one lucky gamer. You must have the inside news of the company. Perhaps, even some private beta testing of the next iteration of X-series games. I envy you for your position, and for your geographic location ^_^.
cold in the winter, hot in summer... and the buildings act as artificial mountains... its windy everywere.
