Random Khaak spawning needs to stop
Sorry, but i have proof that Khaak simply spawn out of nowhere in this game. At first I thought it was me who was being unattentive to the goings on in the game, but i recently was so sick of it i, against my gamer code i have to say, was examining in detail, by reloading, where on earth all of these Khaak ships in "the reach" were coming from. And my investigation lead to: Out of thin air. I have everything littered with sats -- no avail. My plut miners (size M -- medium preset + full service crew) get destroyed in seconds (<20s). This is simply unacceptable. I don't care how you slice and dice it, this is unacceptable on every level.

I know what can be done about it, but i am not at that stage financially to do anything about it in the proper way. This is why manual intervention is necessary. Is what i would say if my ships would not be destroyed instantly -- i have no time to react, making save scumming necessary.

It feels like the game is trying to punish me for reaching a certain financial threshold. I agree, the game should be challenging me for doing well. I love a good challenge and i want the game to push m to the next level. But not by spawning dangerous enemies out of thin air.

There probably an outpost somewhere your not seeing

Also another solution is don’t mine things they hate?

Gas and ice is always an option

They don’t spawn on them

They can run into them but the chance of that happening is random

The service crew wont do you any good.
For starters you can set them to avoid the reach (yes thats a nasty one).
Then set them to flee if attacked and drop a laser tower. That will divert the Khaaks attention, for a while.
And finally: Go get an escort. Khaak aint that tough.

Meh I do all three type for mining

I find it much better as you don’t have to go all in on piers and actually use your docks

It way easier then slapping piers galore onto my stations

They have jumping capabilities... some systems have hives that make them, clear hives.

How do you do that? I can order them to stay and fight or run away. No other options. Are you running a mod to do this?

Lore-wise the Kha'ak have true FTL travel meaning they don't need jumpgates. They have bases in fixed sectors which spawn outposts in the sectors around them who then send fighters at your miners. You can hunt the bases and outposts down but it's a fight against windmills as they will simply respawn. A much better idea is to only use L miners because the weapons the Kha'ak use can't break their shields.

I mean I wouldn't call it fight against windmills
There no guarantee they will re spawn as there can only be so much hive active at one time

For example my home base of Heretic End now is two weeks free of Kha'ak
The hive hasn't spawn again and it now reaching 96 hour
Which mean there already hive elsewhere and heretic end is now consider a safe zone from Kha'ak until a hive get kill and spawn in my sector

Longest I ran without running into Kha'ak has been two months
Which is a pretty long time gameplay wise lol

Yeah, you can definitely get lucky with the spawns. Kha'ak bases respawn after 96 hours but can do so in a different sector. Only a few can have a base but the total number of bases that can exist simultaneously is smaller. Outposts on the other hand respawn very fast, within a day or so.

If I remember that thread correctly
Only 75 percent of the hive location can be occupied and it rounds down not up

There are 9 hive sector so 6 hive can be active at the same time

If you manipulate thing correctly you can be safe pretty well depending on where you settle

I just vaporized one in a transit system. Khaak still spawn. And then there is this massive hive in Heretics End. Which just sits there. There hasnt been an attack in ages. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As others have said, i use L Miners as soon as get them and have them flee and drop laser towers if they are attacked. While it does take time after a while there will be place in the sector the Kha'ak can teleport to without being shot to bits. And: Yes they teleport, sometimes from IS and others from OOS.

Also for even more fun (and faster killing):

If you use two or more fighters set half of them to flee.

No kidding. The one under attack will begin to flee. The Khaak will chase him down.
That way he drags them out in a line and his fin-mates can easily pick them off, the fleeing fighter becomes bait. :steamhappy:

Also, the Kha'ak aren't just "appearing" either. They have a chance to spawn when an asteroid is destroyed.

I had a chance to spawn them in my M miner doing some lodestone hunting. After the big asteroid exploded, next second i was swarmed by 5,6 khaak lol. They just jumped in front of me haha that was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious
