I am stranded on a pirate station in the middle of nowhere.
So, I am completely new to this game, just picked it up the day before yesterday and it has been a bewildering but fun experience. However, I am lost...a lot. Generally I can find my way out eventually, but this time...I think I need help or to reload a past save.

Basically, what happened was that I was doing a mission for Hatikvah, scanning some pirate bases for data leaks. After getting the leaks, I was told to fly to a safe place, but my ship got blown up before I made it. I survived thanks to an emergency ejection, and was close enough to the base to use my spacesuit to fly over there. But now I am stranded. I have two ships, one trader and one fighter, the latter of which was blown up. However, I never got around to hiring a captain for the trader so...it is sitting somewhere, probably back at Hatikvah. Is there any way I can summon the ship? Hitch a ride on someone else's ship or otherwise get off this station? Or should I just reload?

I am not sure if you can but it would be worth trying to see if your reputation is high enough with to high a person on the station with you. Then you can tell them to become the pilot of your remaining ship. Otherwise, yes, reloading might be needed if you can't stow away on a trading ship that comes to the station.

Wow, and I though I was bad for getting myself stuck in places. :D
You can hire someone from anywhere and order then to captain a ship no matter where it is. They magically find a way there. Might have to wait a few minutes. Then just have them pick you up.

I would turn ejection off just make sure to quicksave often. I'm not going to loose a 1.5 million dollar spaceship when I can load it back in.

I love to play through the losses of early game

Though I am guilty of pausing the game and doing emergency evacuation order to my co pilot
She is usually the first to be 5 star in the first few hour so I tend to give her preferential treatment

I never leave a crew member behind. Even when selling a ship I always make sure I have transferred the crew before selling so as not to loose them. Every member I hire stays with me throughout the entire game.
I gets to know them. It brings that little bit more immersion to the game.
When I first started to play I sold a ship and lost two crew members. I was expecting for them to stay on my employee list. I couldn't find a early save were I still had them so I basically started the game from scratch, but, I got them back.

if your on a station, you can approach npcs walking around and hire them to work somewhere else as well, so you could hire one to be the captain of your other ship to come pick you up, but it will take them afew min to get over to the ship, you can also hitch a ride on any ships that dock, to hopefully bring you to another more populated station.
I typically reload if i lose the ship im flying but theres certainly afew ways around but it can be rough

I also love to play thru the losses early game. I go to a lot of trouble to get a nice NPC, but if she dies and the ship blows up, so be it. I will not reload. She knows the score- Or maybe she doesn't- whatever. It's sad if they die, but so be it. When Egosoft decide to add eject for the NPC Follower, I'll use that. Maybe I'll petition Egosoft to implement an ejection system for the NPC too, though I doubt they'll listen.

Well, thanks for the advice guys, it has definitely been an adventure I'll say that XD

So, I was able to find a little lizard man who wasn't too expensive to hire and got him to fetch the ship, but get this, while he was away the station I was on was attacked! A massive battle was happening all around the station and I was getting continuous messages of an imminent explosion! Luckily my new little friend made it on time, but not before several portions of the station actually did explode. It was awesome. Thanks again for the help guys.

well it more of a me problem for stuffing her in the starter ship instead of getting a better one.

5 star pilot in one of the better fighters do extremely well but leaving her in a discoverer because I want to buy more traders/miner was a mistake :steammocking:

nice also good thing the dock didn't blow up!

dock blowing up can take you down with it

Wow, I would have just reloaded and missed the awesome battle.

As an aside, a lot of people are unsatisfied with the parts of the game that require occasionally walking around on a station, but I say that they really nailed it when they gave us complete visibility of everything going on in space near–by. The only way that they could do better would be to make a docking module that isn’t flat. Wrap it around the outside surface of a cylinder!

"you cant stow away on a trading ship"

That's brilliant, arry!
I would LOVE that option...just to have as an option.
I could stow away on a hauler, drink my coffee and take in the sights.

When I first started X4, I got on a huge docked ship to look around - and then the doors locked it took off with me in it. I had to sit there for ages hoping the pilot would eventually land at a Station. It was kinda cool actually. but the Devs should add a "Please land at the nearest Station so I can get off!" option to ask the pilot instead of Teleport (which I hate). Little things like that would make all the difference.
