Will other factions be getting the "Paranid" treatment?
I mean, the L and XL ships got updates (not replacements... though I see no reason to use the old ships when the new ones are just arguably better in every way. The only downside is internal hanger space). I wonder if more ships across all factions will receive the same treatment?

I mean... legit almost all of the Argon ships are kinda ass looking. And a lot of the Paranid smaller ships are uninteresting looking. Everything else is more or less alright.

I think the Argon ships look pretty nice myself and don't really think they need a "Paranid" treatment. Only ones I am not really a huge fan of are the Colossus, the Cerberus and Nova. However, I also don't like the way the Nova's look for X3 either, god those ships are ugly and am disappointed they're still pretty damn ugly in X4 lol. Goes for the X3's Buster, Discoverer and the dreaded eyesore that was the Eclipse for a few others that come to mind, mostly which look better in X4.

I'd say for a select few that the majority of the Argon ships from the older games look much better in X4. Also, don't forget, the "Paranid" treatment wasn't just in look, they were essentially all new ships with better stats on some (E variants). Argon does not suffer the same issues the Paranid did, which were "meh" across the board until 5.0.

And I may be a minority on this one but I actually prefer the older Paranid ships to new ones (mostly). They were a little wonky but totally came off as what I'd expect of an arrogant, self righteous Paranid that thinks they know all dimensions of space and time better than unholy cretins that compose of the commonwealth. lol

Not to say I don't want more ships! I'd love more things like ships and even sectors but I don't think Argon suffers the same issues by any means as the Paranid did. Argon has some of the best ships in the game as well as some of the best engines in the game. The same could not really of been said back before the Paranid update for them.

Anyways, that's just my feelings on the matter.

In my view, it doesn't matter if you're a minority or not. The old Paranid designs were not as good as the new E designs. The Hair Dryer of Destruction was silly and didn't match the design philosophy of the Paranid from X3.

Did you forget what the Hercules and Zeus looked like in X3? Anyways, the biggest flaw I felt with the X4 Paranid ships wasn't so much their look, was their mediocre stats and devs rectified them mostly. If I had to choose, I'd say the X3 ships for Paranid are my favorite. Least for ones like Odysseus, Helios and Pegasus. I REALLY loved the look of the Pegasus in X3 <3

Main thing, Paranid ships were always funky looking and never really followed a set pattern. Their look didn't bother me that much. Yes, some people made memes about the Odysseus but you can make memes about any ship in this game lol About 80% of them would be good sex toy designs :P

Think the real issue was newcomers to the series seeing those Paranid ships and flipping out. Paranid having weird looking ships is nothing new. The new E variants are much too generic looking for my preference. They don't have that funky charm I am used to with Paranid ships. Literally any other race could have those ships and you wouldn't be able to discern them as Paranid. That's my issue. They're just nice looking ships. They lost that funkiness. I'll take the hair dryer look any day because it makes me think of Paranids :D

The ship I miss from X3 is the Spitfyre. For my current beta test run I had to fly a buzzard. Even with Argon equipment it was not fun reloading a lot.

I prefer the original X4 Odysseus because the "NERF" to ship storage puts me off the newer versions. Even through the E has better shielding on engines and is faster there is nothing like having a faster transport ship with lots of M's freighters.

those looked dead on like they came from X3 though?

If they would double the internal docking capacity on the E destroyer for both M's and S's, I would be happy with that. As it stands, I fully agree that too few ships go inside that thing.

5.0 was PAR
6.0 is builders
7.0 will probably be ARG (since they didn't get a new builder)
8.0 TEL?

My guess anyway. The initial reveal of the capitol ship project sounded like it was going to be for a "number of factions" and was just starting with PAR.

Not really happy with either series, to be honest.
The original hairdryers look wonky, but at least like actual blocks of ship. Meanwhile, the E-series has the much better sleek design, but those exposed structural struts make them look kinda unfinished. This is especially visible on the freighters, where I'm also asking myself why the PAR are wasting so much hull space that could've been used for more containers.

GAWD I hope the Teladi ships get a do-ver... Space Umbrellas just look ridiculous...

Don't really mind the space shrooms, but I don't get why the Teladi shifted to shrooms when most or all of their ships are named after birds.
Would expect them to use more bird-shaped designs like the Romulans from Star Trek.

One would think. I prefer their older ship designs. Space Shrooms/Jellies/Umbrellas just look dorky. S'why I never play as Teladi. Can't stand the look of their larger ships. I'll play Paranid, I'll play Terran, I'll play Split. Don't really care for the Argon ships tbh, but I am damn excited for the Boron ships. Oooooh laaaaawdy they look gorgeous.

I've always preferred sleeker looking ships over the bulky ones, which is why I find the Argon and Teladi ones pretty disappointing visually. Especially the space shrooms of Teladi Capital ships which just makes them an even bigger target with more blind spots. Much preferred the look of many ships in X3 and the ships from X: Rebirth also looked cool.

If I had to rank the faction ships in terms of aesthetics:
Boron (I know they're not out yet but LOOK AT EM!), Terran, Split, Paranid, Argon, Teladi. In that order.

aesthetic shift since the teladi reunited with their Homeworld.

XBtF to X3 was established design made by exile Teladi, XR & X4 are Homeworld Designs.
