Is 6.0 with the engine update finally using all cpu cores?
I just started the game with all graphics maxed out, flew through a dense asteroid field, ran around on a bussy station, opend the map and guess what: constant 60fps, no stutterung, just butter smooth. Is this witch craft or finally multi core support? I also noticed my msi afterburner showed usage of all my 8 cores. Please tell me its real.

you know this doesn't mean anything mate ?

i would love this, but can you tell me what game has scaled well with more cores?
Khadafi Jan 19, 2023 @ 1:58pm
At least I wouldn't have a better explanation for why its suddenly running so smooth while before this patch it ran terribly.

perhaps you find the "why" in the beta patchnotes?
Khadafi Jan 19, 2023 @ 2:14pm
I read something about engine changes, mostly graphical "and more", whatever that means.

ok.. i'll make it very easy...

please read the latest announcement, you can find that in the events&announcements section of the forum.

i think you will find the "why" in there. ;)

Yes I read the patch notes and about the engine update. But what specifically has been done to achive better performance? Related to this I only read about a fix for stuttering on busy hangers. Everything else regarding the engine is only about graphical changes.

Runs a lot better for me, only the map and it appears the UI cause me fps drops.

Was going to upgrade my PC for this game but after this patch it seems i can hold off on that for a while.

Specifically it'll likely be the Jolt Physics engine which is:
https://github.com/jrouwe/JoltPhysics
A multi core friendly rigid body physics and collision detection library suitable for games and VR applications, used by Horizon Forbidden West.

So now it's much easier to know if things are hitting one another.

Maybe this doesnt mean anything for an intel user, but for an AMD user with 16 cores at 5.7ghz this is a massive change.

This is multicore. 20% of CPU use overall.

You Necromancer.

Just to add I thought I was still in 2k, but the update must have changed it to 4k and yeah it's running great. Since this post which was many, many moons ago the game has improved tenfold at least.

About time X4 was recognised by the curators etc. It's a stunning game.

It's ok to read a year or older post but please stop replying to them and revive dead threads from their graves. Don't you know the term RIP? Rest in Peace? You just disturbed its peace.
