Dealing with Z axis in the map
Is there some hotkey I'm missing for handling the z axis?

Trying to set a waypoint or objective for ships is maddening with the way the game seems to decide for you if you want to be above or below the zero on the z axis.

I've completely given up on ordering fleets to deal with targets that have a high +/- on z. (I like to order them to attack targets in an area, and it seems impossible to get that to work when dealing with z)

Ordering an explore on a sector is maddening because instead of moving the center on x/y, the game decides I really mean to move the objective up on the z axis.

Very frustrating.

The best way to see if you are facing in a direction that is influenced by the Z axis would be the dotted Z line that show up if you are rotated to far.
I recommend you get rid of Selection line in the filter if you want to see the dotted line.

As soon as you see it you can easily do control + rightclick for a fast fly to and then drag the order below or above the Z once you see the dotted line.

You can even use control + rightclick to do a fast attack order.
