How to find an anomaly?
So I'm doing a scientific research mission, first one. I've followed most of the tasks so far, however I need to find an anomaly with the long range scanner in a huge bubble radius, nothing is happening, do I need special equipment or something?

Hi! No, the anomaly will appear by following the scientist quest. You don't need any special equipment.
If i remember well, it will appear after a scan (press R for two seconds).
You only have to reach that point of interest and go inside.
Maybe are you missing something?

Use the long-range scan to send out a "ping" circle. You should then see a purple circle highlighting where the anomaly is. Nothing will ever appear on the map, so it's useful to have some Nav Beacons that you can drop immediately adjacent to the anomaly.

In space, it will look like a pulsing cluster of turquoise gas-streamers. They always appear in the same spot in each sector, so as you play you'll get a feel for where they are located.

The anomaly works like a wormhole that teleports you to a randomly selected other wormhole; meaning that going through the same one you came out will spit you out somewhere new (possibly even right back out the same location you just entered)

I tend to load up a ship with ~40 Nav Beacons & satellites and map out the entire network. SLOWLY drive your ship up as close as you can to the anomaly, then drop out a Nav Beacon (and possibly a satellite), then hit Boost to quickly burst through (you need to be travelling around 500 m/s). Once you've crossed over in to the new sector, IMMEDIATELY hit the full stop option & spin your ship 180 degrees to find the anomaly again. Drop another Nav Beacon & repeat the process.

Thanks, the circle is orange actually, not purple. Holding R was a much needed thing, Shift 2 puts close range scanners on which work without hitting an additional button, Long range needing R was throwing me off.

I get Nav beacons they work like elite dangerous

Resource beacons make it so I dont have to scan each asteroid right?

What about the Satellites? What exactly do they do for me?

Nav Beacons show a dot on the map & a bright blinking light that can be seen in regular space from a pretty far distance away.

Resource Beacons show you the "richness" of a particular region of resources, which can help you to direct your mining ships to the spots that will fill up their cargo holds fastest.

Satellites reveal a small portion of the map (about the same size as your ship's sensors) on a permanent basis. If there are stations in that sphere, then you will always be able to see the current price of trade goods in that station.

Advanced satellites perform the same function, but a larger sphere (75km radius).

Keep in mind: the map is 3 dimensions, but commands to AI ships to deploy these beacons will only operate on a 2 dimensional plane (Devs, please bring back the X3 Shift method for the Y axis...), so ordering your ships to place a beacon may not put it in an optimal location.
