Waiting for Signal
What is this all about; why is this happening... can I do something to prevent it... is it a 'Good' thing this is happening... etc. etc. etc.????

I have a ship patrolling the area of my HQ, but periodically it falls into a 'Waiting for Signal' mode... and just sits there. I'm unsure if it wakes up when hostiles are in the area, and I just don't want wait until it's too late to find out it will not intervene in an attack.

In any case; I have the ship set to Protect Station. So, can anyone enlighten me on this.

Advanced Thanx!!!

it comes down to behavior you have setup and various other things
sometimes i needs more from you because you have setup a global order for example that says if they are asked to drop cargo they dont and so if u missed that message its "waiting for signal" and u need to comm the captain and say "proceed"

in other cases its because of a more automated situation where u have told them to comply to a police scan, so the captain is waiting for a signal from the OTHER AI to go ahead with their journey.

Another case can be that you have very bespoke behavior on a ship but you interupted it with a manual order, now the ship is "waiting for a signal" from you to tell them you are done.

In almost EVERY case though simply comm the captain of the ship doing it and the options will be presented to you - often "proceed with current orders" will be your choice.

hope this helps!

Awesome; the one thing I did not do, was to contact the captain... I just went into their orders.

As to the rest, Global Orders vary, but in All cases, they are to contact me with whatever situation they run into; and 'Yes', I know I don't catch all of them; sometimes, I even ignore them, because I'm busy!!!

Much Thanx!!!

Does it recover from the 'Waiting for Signal' on its own? Usually when I see this on a ship that I'm not in, it's because they're being scanned by police. If they don't have an contraband aboard I don't think they'll contact you because they won't be asked to drop anything.

l don't know 'Absolutely' if they will recover on their own; but the first time I saw it, I kept checking on my ship to see if it continued (recovered), and after "Roughly" 10 or 15 minutes of checking, it was still Waiting for Signal. As well... I have no idea how long it may have been waiting prior to my noticing.

I've been paying much closer attention to this, and I can now say that I have not been missing any communications from this ship. I'm not sure what is causing this ("maybe" it happens after an attack (don't know, just guessing)), but regardless it just happens, and I have to keep an eye on this ship; otherwise it will just sit there, and not even engage hostiles in the area. To get the ship moving again, I just have to Comm it and say Continue with Orders (or something) and it moves on... but still... I'm sure this should not be happening!!! :(

I am having the same issue. I have a ship on patrol and every little bit it will stop and wait. There is nothing going on with it to cause this that I can find. Also the order if you go to it and click the drop down on the left side you can set times if you set it to a min and leave it then the order will clear and the ship will carry on. I am guessing there might be a hard setting some where that will set a time for that, maybe a up coming player setting. But even if it has to be hard coded so to speak for now, anything to get rid of it. I don't mind the ones for boxes as I have them set up for that. But I don't want my attack fleets I have patrolling stopping for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles waiting for me to tell them to go ahead and do their job that I already told them to do.

The weirdest thing is a ship goes into 'waiting for signal' if you teleport out of it. Even in combat. Its a cause of frustration and its odd.
