Are free families pirates?

God scanned multiple times in their space with demands to dump cargo. not carrying anything illegal and attempting self defense resulted in rep loss. Are they supposed to be a pirate faction then? any reason to try to be friendly with them?

I never been scanned once in their space, and I always got something illegal on my person. Either space fly eggs or parts to make EMP bombs lol And yes they have some very fun vehichles like the Dragon Corvette, super fast Medium with 6 M hardpoints. Plus they got a better version of the gattling cannons that is some how cheaper to boot, and lastly they got disrupters that can damage through sheilds but only in small amounts.

Plus a big 10 million just for the chasis destroyer I want to get my hands on. Only issue with them is they are big in weapon slots and speed, but man they don't seem to care much about sheilds. In fact they don't even sell mk2 sheilds although I just sent my dragons to telradi to get their sheilds anyways...

Hmm i believe that the regular split have all that as well. and i had just dumped all my illegal stuff in my HQ before i showed up in their space

They do but I started off -15 with normal and -5 with Free families, also they carry diffrent types of same ships. Never mad pals with the other split faction. But i know all the others its the same deal two versions of their race, each one with a diffrent version of their ships.

Free Families have raider versions super fast orinted, not sure about the other one. But like with parnid HOP has sentintal that has more HP more combat built, but less crew, the other has vangaurd that has less hull HP but more crew space.

That is my issue right now I want to think long term and I want to find a faction to go to war with one day and start taking over their space, Pargon is closest minus telradi which I make fat stacks trading with. So on fence if I should go after HOP, or normal Parnoid faction. HOP is smaller and every one hates them so it would be easier to support say Argon and Parnoid war efforts to help weaken them, but at same time I am using corvettes from HOP for that extra HP bonus to the hulls

ok looks like their heavy fighters are completely different. FRF has 4 weapon hardpoints and ZYA has 5 aside from that FRF dragon is raider variant. I also started with -15 but I was grinding that rep first so I'm at 20 with them now. My only concern is taht I havent even touched on the enw missions and was wondering if i have to be friend with FRF for any of them. Otherwise I am gonna farm them for Rattlesnakes

I just restarted a new game so I haven't hit that point yet, I just bearly hit point I got 12 mill in the bank now so I started for first time ever working on split rep and chose free families since it was less work. I got say though that dragon and rattlesnake are main reason I plan on grinding more with them I haven't even been to ZYA space yet though so can't even view their shipyards/warfs lol

Sounds like i may have to go visit them and grind a bit to see the diffrent ship varations. Kind of like i allied up with HOP and now I want swap to parnid and attack HOP one day lol

Not only that this is first time since x3 I started making a real combat fleet normally I just go trade empire, but I want to make my empire a legit trade empire and start taking some sectors on the highway, being stuck at HQ location away from them has made me start enving those factions with access to the big loop for a while now lol
