is there story in this game o-o?
so, this isnt a review, nor a negative or positive thing etc.
what my point is; am very used that the X games had always a story so far. like X with its xenon, then x² with the ka'ak (which was fun btw) and then X³ where the xenon came back and still the ka'ak luring around, then came reunion where we found earth etc. btw that was the goal. then X rebirth with had its own story too buuuuut...

what is with this X4 foundation ... does it has any story? where do i find said story ... everytime when i start a new game plop i just into the hanger with a ship next to me and thats it '.'.

if it has a story, where does it starts o-o?

For my opinion here no Main story just several mini-stories.
First story you can found if you will scan stations and found signal (Boron mission and your HQ).

In the vanilla game you can found Paranid story and Antigone story. To unlock it you need complete first story and up some reputation for factions from Bosso'ta and then found Dal Busta (Antigone story if I remember right).

More interesting stories with DLC. Splits story and Terran story (most completed story IMHO. Where you can feels "O-o-o, this is main campaign")
But it still more sandbox and no main campaign with global goal (for all X-Universe) like in previous games. But I hope something will in the future...

So my verdict - Terran story propably what you want to found.
There are few different plots (stories). Their beginning mostly tied to a specific faction reputation or being at specific location.
I dont know if its fit all initial game starts. But at least few of them have unique plot accessible only via given start.

I think with X4:Foundations the stories try to describe the current gate configuration after the gate realignment. (which is probably best done via the data vaults)

You are expected to get the Player HQ and then do the Hatikvah plot as those are prerequisites for the Split and Paranid Plots (and will let you start the Pioneer plot (Terran 2nd faction) and the late game terraforming.

All plots are available (even the DLCs if you have them) from any start each start has some scene setting but once the game loads your free to go any way you want.

ah ok, so its just mini stories and theres not really a mainplot.
so, no big threat which lures around the corner with a plot to form an empire to defeat said threat... thats a bit sad. so its more like a sandbox thing where ya get thrown into and the game basicly says ... here you are do whatever you want, goodluuuuuck.

i mean thats what i got from the plopping into the hanger with a ship next to you and noone tells you where you get your first steps (aside from the totorial x3)

The Terran and the ToA starts initiate a story when you start the game. For the others you need to scan signal leaks in stations to get the Boron scientist mission to start the plot line.

Finishing all the main plots can require quite a lot of time, because some plots can only be accomplished when you have invested somewhat in the economy or station building, or you need a somewhat beefy fleet in order to destroy the enemy.

Well, the stories are not "that" mini and some of your choices can have a massive impact on the galactic politics and economy and can completely change the dynamic of the game.

If i am counting right, there are currently 9 storylines in the game. Some are more tutorial-like while others will cost you billions of credits to complete.

As for a the big threat, there are still the Xenon which are very well capable of conquering and destroying entire factions. It can very well happen for a beginner to realise that the Xenon have taken over half of the map at some point.

The X3 titles were pretty similar in this. A pile of storylines with only some of them building on other storylines, and a good bunch of them you have to find yourself.

I honestly don't know why they bothered with the story.

The plot missions serve to allow the player to have a hand in shaping the in game universe. The later Terran ones are cool in my opinion.

I'm still riding the Freelancer high for a story campaign in a space sim/exploration game.

the thing is, i would like a narration to said story plots. i mean, i seen on the map so far that here and there are missions like kill this and that, check this here or trading aka take this, hope that your ship storage is big enough and fly it over to there. but none of them leaded into something which would trigger a bigger plot aside the one with the radio signals and then buying a bomb and plopping it onto a pirate base hull which i can not find öö

There are two starts that are the best for story. The Terran cadet and the tides of avarice stranded.

Either Terran or tides of avarice starts, there are two of each, are good though.

Don't be too afraid to restart. As you learn the game it gets easier to get your income flowing.

yeah restarting helps find new ways to play, right now I did a restart, rushed for a maintenance bay and then you can just print money if you want, you can build advanced sats and sell them which will get you hundreds of million of credits (that's the cheaty way) or even better just buy fighters with minimum preset and then equip them at your maintenance bay which is a lot less expensive even if you have to buy all the ressources, after 20 hours O have already 200 fighters that can kill almost anything in the game ^^

No, there is not. There is interesting lore for the X Universe but it is not presented in the game in any kind of substantial way. At best the various 'starts' gives you a tiny bit of context and puts you in the shoes of some character with different starting pool of resources and different starting location - but it becomes meaningless shortly after.
It's very much like Elite Dangerous. There's fleshed out lore but you'll have to read the in-game encyclopedia or read some novels. The game itself gives you little to no reason to care about what's going on in this universe.

why dont you try yourself for about 1hour and 40 miuntes of gameplay? you will see where you will get until then and can use that 2 hour/2 weeks mark to refund anyway =)
