though, i don't think riptide will actually start a defence station on their own if you wipe windfall clean.
I "finished" this line as far as I can tell and there doesn't seem to be any major outcome from whatever choice you make at the end. Paying them off and destroying the indicated station. So I don't suspect there is any reason you'd need to finish it or keep them around. Not even sure there's an achievement for finishing that storyline.
Also they don't seem to impact the rest of the commonwealth much except being annoying to the player.
Sounds like a good reason to give them a taste of my guns. I honestly don't mind the Scale Plate Pact even as they just pick on the rich merchants. The syndicate picks on people who are already having a hard time. I really want them out of my universe.
I'm putting together an expedition right now to steal the Erking. From what I have gathered it is near undefended and pretty much I just have to lob enough marines at it to take it pretty easily.
Well... they only pick on people trading in the goods they control, water, food, medical mostly. If you stop trading in those they don't bother you.
Also, war with them is AWESOME because Egosoft finally got some things right with them. They use missiles to take out your hard points on your destroyers so battles are actually a challenge rather than a dumb long waste of time with nothing happening that apparently everyone on the forums wants because everyone is scared to lose ships.
I guess they are best attacked when you have the means to build your own en masse
I suppose 3-4x Asgards is enough to deal with whole VIG threat OOS. If kicking them out is the main goal.
I mean it doesn't really matter if I make a few Asgards or 20 Osakas or so.
At current state I can produce 30-50 destroyers hourly / ~1000 fighters and capable to steamroll throughout gate network, but still use Asgards, cuz there are much more sides of the game than micromanagement. Also they save perfomance cuz do same task for less amount of cpu calculated targets.
you can capture enough from Terrans.
