Wipe out the Vigor Syndicate?
They are scum and I don't like them. Is there any reason you can't just wipe them out after dealing with Northriver? I really don't want to give them any money and would rather give their sectors to more friendly factions (hopefully the Tidebreakers, but I'm not holding my breath they'd actually move in).

you will never know until you tried it.

though, i don't think riptide will actually start a defence station on their own if you wipe windfall clean.

I don't expect Riptide to actually move out of their little section of the map, but I can relieve the pressure on them. I'd much rather the Teladi move in then the Vigor. I don't even care about their silly casino. Let it burn.

I "finished" this line as far as I can tell and there doesn't seem to be any major outcome from whatever choice you make at the end. Paying them off and destroying the indicated station. So I don't suspect there is any reason you'd need to finish it or keep them around. Not even sure there's an achievement for finishing that storyline.

Also they don't seem to impact the rest of the commonwealth much except being annoying to the player.

Sounds like a good reason to give them a taste of my guns. I honestly don't mind the Scale Plate Pact even as they just pick on the rich merchants. The syndicate picks on people who are already having a hard time. I really want them out of my universe.

I'm putting together an expedition right now to steal the Erking. From what I have gathered it is near undefended and pretty much I just have to lob enough marines at it to take it pretty easily.

Well... they only pick on people trading in the goods they control, water, food, medical mostly. If you stop trading in those they don't bother you.

Also, war with them is AWESOME because Egosoft finally got some things right with them. They use missiles to take out your hard points on your destroyers so battles are actually a challenge rather than a dumb long waste of time with nothing happening that apparently everyone on the forums wants because everyone is scared to lose ships.

I guess they are best attacked when you have the means to build your own en masse

6x AA Asgards OOS dont feel those VIG swarms tickling. Their fighters usually dispersed, choose different targets to attack and slooooooooooowly approach enemies after travel engine switched off far away. Last one is basic in-game issue though.
I suppose 3-4x Asgards is enough to deal with whole VIG threat OOS. If kicking them out is the main goal.

Yeah I don't use Asgards. Cheat ship made to satisfy players who didn't want challenge in their games.
Bambelbar Aug 2, 2022 @ 5:05pm
How ruthless are you? They pretty much rely on their Riptide cattle to sustain themselves... Maybe consider culling the herd?

I mean it doesn't really matter if I make a few Asgards or 20 Osakas or so.

it is hard to say who would. there are some sectors the factions that expand don't touch. what they do it will be boarder to their own sectors. it may be core sectors are as well no goes for i do not see them contested ever and i have never seen vigor contested even though they are practically enemies to everyone. there are some that do but usually tied to quest lines.

To be fair, that cheat ship take extreme effort to be able to make. So I say go for it!

Thats nothing more but subjective opinion.
At current state I can produce 30-50 destroyers hourly / ~1000 fighters and capable to steamroll throughout gate network, but still use Asgards, cuz there are much more sides of the game than micromanagement. Also they save perfomance cuz do same task for less amount of cpu calculated targets.
