Returning Player - DLC Question
Played all the X series games, coming back after letting this one get some updates. Prolly will end up getting all the DLC but if i could only chose one at the moment is there one that stands out from the others in terms of content and fun?

I would have to say the Terran dlc is the most "fleshed out" in terms of the story you get, plus Terran ships and tech are really superior to a lot of what you'd see across the gate network. Sol sectors are a bit of a pain to navigate though lacking any sort of highway, they're more akin to how travel was in previous x games, engage travel drive and wait.

if i had to choose just one, it would be cradle of humanity. i wouldn't want to miss the new build/chain that comes with it

That's a good point, the Terrans have their own unique resources for building. expensive to get into, but easy to manage once you do.

my personal order would be Terran > Split > Avarice.
Terrans add more dynamics to the galaxy like intervention core swarming around quelling xenon unrest. Ships are topnotch. Story is the best of all the dlc in my eyes.
Split dlc is cool, ships too but its definitive lacking in some points and especially Zya feels like to be designed to die out to xenon and overall suiciding crucial ships in an relative useless attempt to fight the argon instead of fighting the xenon incursions. But can be fun for a fighting oriented player with advanced knowledge.
Avarice i leave out.

Personally I hate the Terran DLC. I mean, they dumbed down the production chain. So it's less interesting and less fun to manage. This then makes it so you don't need as many resources so you end up just having to hump insane amounts of silicon across the universe. And the ships, while fun at first, are so stupidly OP that they ruin the game. What's the solution to everything in the game? Asgard!

Terran DLC has the most gradual onboarding but then you're stuck with most everything unfriendly in your lame production tree land. It's a good story I guess.

Split DLC is best DLC for me. Super fun ships but they have a weakness. Good story, significant decisions.

Avarice sucked. So many failed game mechanics that sounded amazing but we're implemented badly.

Terran COH DLC in my opinion, the production chain is a lot more simple or at least it appears so but when you actually start building computronics and some other ressources you see where the difficulty comes from, you need tons of miners to feed the production modules and a lot of raw ressources, it's perfect if you like to play as a mining corp because terrans and Pioneers will eat a ♥♥♥♥ ton of raw ressources and gaz...
also the stations look fantastic and so do the ships.
it also adds the best plots way better than in the last DLC which was supposed to be story heavy which it honestly is not.

Split Vendetta comes second, the ships and stations look great and the DLC adds a very big amount of new sectors, very interesting story that allows you to kinda shape how the split will do in the x universe.

last is TOA, it's not a bad DLC the price is still kinda low for what it adds but it's the DLC that adds the least amount of content, not really many new ships but some very unique ones not much story content except for the avarice plot, the other plot is more of a tutorial that's really boring to do more than once... not man,y new sectors, a new mechanique that is not very well exploited with new hazardous area.
It's not a bad DLC but it's the worst in the 3
