we are years away from x5 and there is a lot to improve on from x4
They are adding more and more. Mods can add even more. Look at where the game was before any DLC. If they do 1 or 2 more DLC the X4 universe might get huge. Maybe play with 1 more game mechanic. Moders beyond that will take it all over the place. Some X3 Rebirth ships have been added that way and more. I haven't jumped into mods myself. will after all the story missions are done. I haven't even got Tides of Avarice yet
Ego should release more nonsensical DLC's to collect enough money to be able to afford programmers who know how to program a new engine that will work with the game's concept. The poor scripting and performance in X4 simply make it a trashcan product.
And Ego should probably get rid of It's current head rather quick to replace him with someone who understands what made the series great before X4.
Impossible for me to understand how there are guys who actually hype this current version of X up. The idea alone is still so unique and fantastic in it's concept for sure, but how do you enjoy an "endless session sandbox" game that shuts itself down after a couple of hours, because it wasn't even optimized for hardware standards from years ago when it released?
And I'll never understand these lowest of standards that this company and it's hardcored fanbase stands for today, when looking back at the history of the X series. This version of X is such a complete waste of time and effort.
To tell you the truth, X4 is miles away from being a finished game.
It's a bit curious that X Rebirth was further along after 3 years than X4 is now after 4 years and you get the impression that Egosoft is overwhelmed with their own engine, as they are with X4.
Nevertheless, X4 is well worth playing.
That is curious and an almost schizophrenic state of affairs.
I think X4 needs at least another 4 years of work before we see a significant improvement.
Still, I think Egosoft will get at most 1 maybe 2 more dlc's before an X5 is released.
A lot of the problems with X4 come from ventures and not supporting Modern well.
On the contrary, Moder is still punished with the passage Modified behind a Save Game for a function that has not worked for 4 years and was taken out of the game for almost 2 years.
Bravo Egosoft.
If you talk to Egosoft about it, they say there are still significant things to come with the ventures and multiplayer, but it takes time.
After 4 years after release!
And so it is with many things in X4, unfortunately.
I personally believe that X5 will be announced soon and with slight changes X5 will become X4 . 05.
As long as Egosoft refuses to get bigger, to take more risks, everything about X4/X5 will remain half-hearted work.
