Are mining fleets a thing?

Can I make a fleet of miners and they all work together in a fleet to mine together sell together and defend together?

Or better to use miners as single non fleet?

Nope. But you can build mining stations and add mining ships there.

If you are looking for more defense I advice the usage of L miners. They are more robust and can hold their own until help arrives.

yes you can assign a station manager to manage whole mining fleet, you need a station though

You can assign them as a Mimic Miner fleet but they don't fly and mine together (all the time anyway)
They are all independent and choose where to mine themselves

They go and mine just like if you assign them to station.

I just don't like seeing a whole list of about 30 miners going down cluttering up my property menu lol

then yah it either station subordinate for miners
Or you condense them into a mining fleet using Mimic. (just make sure all of the ship can do the task)

The first thing I do is to aquire 4 mining ships. But only so that they earn enough money for the first station. My next step is to buy a 3D printing station. Meaning they produce all ressources you need for building a station. After that, building the next 3D builder and than Shipyards.
