Terran Cadet Missions (xenon)
Some of these missions, I don't understand. Like am I supposed to be able to do this sh** in my kukri? Maybe not, but they don't tell me that. Anyway I've had a number of gameover's due to simply trying to kill some "infrastructure units" after "avoiding the xenon patrol". (after "waiting for the xenon scout"). Idk maybe I'm supposed to be a better flyer, but I'm not, so this has been really hard. This was more of a rant, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or advice? Maybe on what I should do?

The missions in Getso Fune aren't specific to the terran Cadet start. When you are told to go to getsu fune you can ignore those til you have better ship's and weapons.

Ah thanks!
I'm fairly new, I don't really understand how to make money in this game or how to pick up missions. Tips?

Crystal mining is a nice early money source.

As martingolding96 said, crystal mining can be a good early money boost. I don't really enjoy doing much of that, though, so the sooner I can get even a single small miner up and running the better. It doesn't need to be well equipped either. Basic everything is fine on the first few. Shields aren't even required. When you get more money you can give them better stuff. I just keep adding them until I have one small miner per station I've found that's buying.

You'll need to find sectors where the miner can mine and sell in the same location. There are several throughout the Terran sectors. Also, the Grand Exchange is a great place for mining and trading because it has 3 smaller sectors in one and the miners and traders will go between them, meaning there's a lot more trading opportunities. Any other sectors like that are also good places to look around for early trading/mining opportunities.

You could finish the mission if you wished. Defeating the infrastructure units is the last 'mandatory' battle, the rest you can choose how much you want to fight in. For fighting them, I recommend flying close, and strafing (WASD keys) to keep underneath them and away from their turret. Otherwise can come back later with better ship/weapons/shields etc. No penalty to it.

For some other ways to make money, some easier ones is looting battlefields for loot (hold 'O' key to tractor loot in, have to be within 1km when you're in a fighter). Sell that loot at the trader - you'll pick up on what's valuable and not. Programmable Field Arrays are one of the better ones to look for.

Roaming around, looking at station for missions. Look for the yellow icons on them, look at the mission offers screen. Some of them are easy - shoot down mines/laser towers/criminal traffic. Get items from a lockbox. Some may not be possible until later or risks faction rep - boarding/killing ships. Or just not worth your time. A fair few different missions available.

Eventually you'll want miners in certain sectors (like asteroid belt or oort cloud) doing local automine for ore and silicon. And some of the gases. Just make sure there's a station in the sector that actually has in demand that material first, otherwise they'll just sit there doing nothing. Computronic Substrate Fabs is the better stations here to look for - they're resource hogs.

There's other ways like trading/looting/piracy but that should cover a fair few ways.

Actually, the very first few ones, in Getsu Fune, yes. However, sometimes I've been unlucky too (Done that start like 10 times now so speaking of experience...). Xenon were there that weren't there before in earlier "intro's" and there was no chance for me to complete that mission in my Kukri. One time, I even had the "Defend this station" intro Terran mission blow up entirely, 3 minutes before those reinforcements arrive.

So actually, the devs intended some of it to be doable in your Kukri, but faction decisions can throw a really strong wrench in your face. So an "easy" mission may turn out to be difficult or even extremely difficult in a much better ship than it was designed for, just because you're playing in a "living" world.

I had that happen once. For whatever reason, the Terran station had I think some laser turrets, and that attacked some Antigone ships that were nearby. They fired back, hit the station, the station destroyed them. I can't remember the order of events, but it was during the defence portion of it, and two Antigone destroyers also showed up. It was a massive brawl. I think one destroyer got killed, the other killed the station. Something about fall back to the gate. Pretty insane.

Edit: Hey, got a screenshot of the action.

Sounds great, just saying what to do sounds overly complicated. Either a mod or maybe watching a video could solve that. But otherwise I still just about don't know what to do, though I have an idea of what I can do, so thanks.

Also the WASD strafing sounds easy enough, but like I said I'm not very good at flying at least not in this game lol, and I'm not sure I could without dying enough times to warrant my postponing of playing the game.

And also this. It did seem really weird. The first go into Getso Fune to do missions, around that station, I ended up not going immediatly and I went and did other stuff to make money and sell stuff, I ended having enough money to be able to buy another ship. And I came back, and there was a Antigone (I think it's called) Battleship and a number of smaller ships attacking the stations, and it blew up as I was trying to "inspect the station" for Mission Command. Then the mission restarted minutes later and a new station just up and POOFED into existence along with a bunch of Terran Ships attacking the antigone republic's ships. It was weird, and I also had a 4/5 mine bug, having to go and buy another.

every mission in the terran plot is totally doable in the ship the game gives you and SPOILER WARNING after a certain point you get given an extremely powerful fighter a katana corvette a syn destroyer and a superb yaki corvette if you die in your starter ship missions its probably due to friendly fire just load a save and try again

I appreciate it, but there is a lot of people who would disagree with your statement. I'm sure it's doable though. (and I don't think I could)

Not sure if this helps but during the 'destroy infrastructure ships' part I found aggroing the fighters away from the infrastructure ships back to the Antigone or Terran station or even other faction ships made taking them out very manageable, especially if you kill them near stations, you get 10k for each ship you wreck.

Sir you are a life saver. I was pulling my hair out on this mission. Must have replayed it a dozen times before I saw this. Worked like a champ.
