Timer for the tide?
It's super annoying to watch the sector for ages just to catch one.. is there any timer you can take a look at for that?

kinda.

do the RIP plot but dont go into the anomaly and you will have a timer telling you exactly when the next tide hits, when the first warning hits (first timer expiring) and when the tide actually arrives.

yes but I am trying to gather supply afterwards. Its annoying because its manual and I really also dont to watch the sector/ships in the sector all the time.. I hoped that there was some info timer I might have missed :/

I idle in the Astrid which is parked next to the portal, There seems to be a warning / greeting every 15-20 minutes giving you an idea how far away the tide is.

That is actually what I did the last few times.. but I'd rather be in another plays doing stuff and only come back when the tide is about to come

In a DLC of poorly thought out mechanics - this one takes the cake. We're supposed to sit there waiting for the tide announcement, IN SECTOR. FFS Egosoft.

Just put an alert universe wide (or allow it in Global Orders) and put that the tide is about to happen in the log so players can get there and do their thing.

yeah I agree it's annoying as hell ^^

That whole expansion is a mess. Salvage mechanic doesn't work half the time. Can't assign salvage orders to the Teuta without having a manticore grouped. Natural shipwrecks don't respawn unless you sit in the system. The Teuta can't find wrecks in the system unless they are on top of them and your loaded into the sector. Aside from the high sun value the whole Avarice sector doesn't offer a lot of resources. Aside from the one new battleship you can acquire, Tides of Avarice doesn't have a lot of content either.

I rarely regret buying DLC's, but it's one I sort of do. Still I want to support the Dev's because x4 is a great game, warts and all.

Never seen those issues, it works very well for me, My 7 Teutas are doing wonders and I have around 80 Manticore salvaging ships for several stations.
Also my solar power plant in avarice is making tons of energy cells and I even put up a mining station in avarice that makes tons of credits...

Are you running Manticores in Avarice? And they don't get destroyed by the Tide all the time? Or is your salvage op in Windfall and energy production in Avarice?

You probably spend enough time in that system for the salvage wrecks to respawn.

There is ship mod for 100% hazard resistance.

That's not what I asked.

I have one salvaging station in windfall yes and then there is one in nopileo's and another in Heretic's end and split fire (mod)

My energy cells come from avarice, For unknown reason only my S traders get blown up by the tide xD I lost maybe 5 M traders and some got damaged but I had 50 S traders at some point and they are all dead now I no longer replace them.
they are modifications you can install on ships to avoid tide damage, very helpful for miners

You can dock a ship in any of the stations in Avarice. Once the 15 min timer starts, the ship will have a "comms" icon - same as when your ships are scanned by the police. Ships in space will travel out of Avarice and then wait with the same icon.
So you get an idea of when it makes sense to teleport to Avarice 5 and eventually wait for the next flood with SETA on...

Not an exact timer though, but better than randomly waiting a full hour in sector...

Yes annoying, but I really just run my salvage services out of avarice.

To me it just the alert mechanics wasn't fool proof, the manticores and traders do go to "wait for signal" if they are on route to avarice if the tide warning first announced.

However, the problem is after that announcement any ship still can plot a route without the interrupt provided by that first announcement.

Also that "wait for signal" was an automated response much like fleeing but it was a one time order that can be removed even when the tide event is ongoing.
