ToA final mission (spoiler)
I'm at the final mission where I have to destroy the food station, however I'm struggling to find a way that doesn't completely leave me in trouble.

I've tried cheesing it and putting 200 mark 2 laser towers at the station to destroy it. That worked, but when the mission completed, VIG remained hostile and there was hostiles everywhere, which would have me compromised.
From my understanding, the rep should reset when completing the mission, but some ships remain hostile, which will continue to impact the rep.

Does anyone have some tips on how I can destroy the station without remaining hostile after completing that mission? I didnt want to cheese it, but I don't have enough finances to sustain a war.

What does this whole story get you? It costs an arm and a leg to go through this story but as far as i can tell there's no point at the end. The Terran DLC was a bit lack luster but at least you got the syn and a bunch of credits throughout.

Nothing you gain absolutely nothing.

If you pick one path you get ownership of like 2 sectors and some stations and some ships but the ships get destroyed before you can even do anything with them and your just left with some badly built stations

They then proceed to attack said stations making your rep loss go down even further to the point of no return.

The whole plot/questine is atrocious tbh and feels nothing like being a pirate at all.

I was hoping the main story would be me raiding innocent civilians extorting government officials doing big heist something.... but its so lackluster.

All you do is do some trades research some crap and follow two twins into a rift that's it that's the whole damn story.

I love X4 but this story was cra-p

The only thing this DLC has got going for it is the scrap mechanic I love salvaging ships but the story hell no.

I believe 5.10 will make it better. However I am not sure how long that'll remain in the beta testing phase.

The only thing i got from this story line was regret. Costs hundreds of millions in ships and bribes and get nothing.

The scrap mechanic is part of 5.0 not the DLC. you can get scrap whether or not you buy the DLC. Everything good about this is part of 5.0 update. Maybe the other story line will be better. i haven't started it.

I LOVED the stranded storyline start. I think it is the first time we have seen a real story blocked by a start, at least a storyline worth doing.

That's good to know. I did the other start and i regretted it. The stranded one sounded like you'd end up being a pirate and trash your rep.

Starting with a hauler was a bit annoying. Hauling is for AI's :P

They should update this DLC to give us more.... just... more anything it seems so lackluster and the story/plot is the worst one of of the entire X series games.

I wanted a pirate focused story/plot and this seems nothing related to that at all.

Think of red dead redemption 2.... I know I know you can't compare different games blah blah blah....

.but in read dead redemption 2 you robed banks you robed frieght trains you held up people for ransom you then got bountys on you and had bounty hunters come after you. You had a reputation system that factions would react to depending on how good or bad you are.

Imagine those mechanics in this game.

Imagine the terrans not wanting anything to do with you because you stole too many of their asgards and they sent mercenaries after you or they sent ships to try take back their asgards or they tried boarding your ships this time instead of you doing it to them.

TLDR: I just wish there was more pirate stuff related to this DLC.

X3 albion prelude had the best pirates ever I miss those.

Ok i paid them off first, then took out the station with one asgard, had all turrents attacking my target, then once destroyed i disarmed them, as i was leaving the vig went blue right away.

Only like 4 or 5 ships stayed red, not enough to do anything, i then left sector all went blue after that, my rep went to 12..

also i had the ship out in the sector away from anything, so when i teleported in after paying them, it was a short jog to kill the station,
i took out the defense part frst then just let the turrents go hog wild on the rest,

thats my story and im sticking to it :P

How did you deal with the fighters? I arrived at the station and it has 182 fighters and a Barbarossa waiting for me

Pay off the vigs. Then send in a freighter or non combat ship and drop 250 or so mk2 laser towers while your out of sector. Drop them in a blob off to the side a bit then can drop another blob closer if you want. A lot more ships might enter combat. Probably 10+ capital ships and tons of light small ships.

In theory you could equip a fast fighter with heavy torpedoes (~150? total) or heavy cluster missiles (much cheaper but dumb fire missiles, can boost/launch from very far away, need maybe 200? but about 1250 credits each) and destroy the station that way. And or you could eject mk1 laser towers from a fast fighter around the station areas but they will likely get destroyed.

Tried the laser towers tactics I placed around 1000 laser towers at the station sure they destroyed it but I then got to -30 rep with them and that's permanent you can't get your rep better anymore at that point.

I even destroyed the station and no other ships just station still I got a permanent -30 rep no matter what I do or how I do it my rep hit is just too much.

I even started a brand new game because of this and I'm never touching any of the new story or plot missions ever again there is 0 point to doing them

They give no rewards and don't affect the universe in any way so what's the point.

I was fortunate to have a save spot just before i made the decision with the brothers and so i reloaded back to that and just left them without making a decision.

If you leave your laser towers armed after the station blows the killing of the remaining red ships will give you negative rep.

Finished the mission and my rep rep went back to what it was before minus killing 1 red ship which dropped my vig rep a point.

At this point, I'm starting to think the path of least resistance is finally getting Asgard production online.

How much of this station do you need to destroy exactly? Is it enough to just smash up the docks, or do you have to blow the whole thing?
Liren 6 ABR 2022 a las 2:00
Easiest way to avoid hits to your rep is to destroy the station first. After that you can finish up anything hostile, pull out of the sector and get clear of any further rep losses. Then pay them, and your rep resets to pre-story levels. This avoids the current bug where some ships don't instantly reset and remain hostile (mostly police from what I've seen).
