The way I do it is generally to set up stations that will prodcue a specific good then assign traders by repeat orders to go back and foruth between the supply station and the station I want to be stocked up at. I don't trust the commander to get the right stuff or on time. The commander is like the government, "it gets there when it gets there"
You need to set up a trade rule (name it something like "Player Only") restrict all factions and have yourself listed under allowed factions.
Then you just set Station Trades for the station you only want to use your own wares to follow that rule.
Here's a pretty good explanation of how this all works with pictures.

You select the ship using the overall map or property management then right click on your station.
It will say "Trade for commander" and another option "trade for commanders building storage"
Trade for commader is in general i believe like for your production modules
and trade for commaders building storage i believe is when you add more modules to your station so that they are there for the construction.
I hope that helps, is what you asking for.
Alternatively if you have a one-star pilot for your trader, you can make their default behaviour repeat orders. Then tell it to buy a ware from supplying station and sell to the demanding.
edit: also resources in Logical Overview are set to my rule only. so they do not sell resources to other factions. that part is correct. but do not supply with resources near stations
When buying/selling from yourself no money will actually move between station accounts, but as I recall they still need to actually have enough money within their manager's account to place a buy order from your other station.
edit: adding money to build account did a job, its weird as hell that egosoft didnt think about that, but still, trader moved its ass
thanks!
