Is there a way to play this game fast?
From my experience this game play's very slowly but maybe that's from my play style? What's the fastest way to get credits? Hoping I don't have to spend days to get anywhere or for the game to do something.

Scavenger play style make money fast.

It a mix of luck and time

Luck for abandon ships and time to gather up the millions of value of loot

Much to my disappointment, crystal hunting is still the quickest way to earn credits quickly, if that's your only goal.

If you want "fast" play something else. This game is all about the slow-burn.

Like in all game, the fastest way to get cresits is cheating.

There are fast ways to get credits, much faster than crystal mining, but I'm afraid of devs nerfing them.

Nobody mentioned SETA. However, that makes a refreshing change.

SETA is the tech you can craft in game that enables you to speed up actions. Be warned though, SETA speeds up all the game and parts of the game do not behave well when speeded up over certain times.

The answers above are truly the best option. Use the time it takes to take your ship across the X universe to micromanage some other element that will make you more money.

You can also go the looter route. Sit next to xenon borders and collect crates they die. It's also good to have a scaleplate base scouted so you can sell illegal xenon components. It's a bit faster than the nerfed crystal farming, and you can start buying ships quite quickly.

Just remember to use firefly eggs to craft caviar.

Could you throw a few numbers around? How much do you make per minute with the looting activity, roughly? Asking for a friend. We're not going to nerf it - it's dangerous enough that it's fair if it's rewarding.

No one can give you what you just asked for. As mentioned above it has a lot to do with luck. Some players might take hours and others might take weeks.

Personally, I think turning spacefly eggs into caviar is a pretty quick way of moneying up too, but only if you know where to look for the egg. Xenon ships tend to drop then infrequently but when they do, it's usually a good number of them. So that's another way to collect them but slower and more luck based.

Grabbing programable field arrays from wrecks is also a very good way with minimal risk too.

For example in my latest game I wandered into the battlefield and got away with three!!! abandoned ship (This is a new record since this feature was introduced and I was cheering like it was the best present I ever gotten)

A Nemesis, Nova, and Perseus.

Pretty much gave me a few million in like 10 minute.

The 2nd way to make money involve the more idle time (for you people who like to sit back in sector)
You find a mining rich sector with tons of miners mining and just wait in sector as they reveal all the space fly eggs, unstable crystal, lodestones and all the illegal goods and hope you don't get caught hoarding them all.

Sure, even if the results vary wildly, we can still arrive at a ballpark value of inventory items. I just did a quick test and sent a ship to collect drops on repeat orders in the meat grinder that is the Second Contact Gate to True Sight, and it made ~320k in 10 minutes. For reference, I tried hunting crystals as the Young Gun in the asteroid field in Black Hole Sun, right at the start, and got ~350k in 10 minutes. Of course, a sample size of 1 means nothing, though. Maybe further testing will give better results.

Additional notes: Even if this tactic ends up being super profitable, that fact is balanced out by several restrictions. It only works if the fight has already started, so it's not something you can do immediately at the start of the game. You also have to know where and when the fights are going to take place. You also have to hire a pilot and set up a repeat orders behaviour, and invest time doing nothing while the pilot works (at least at the start of the game, when you only have that one ship, which is what this is all about). Taking a few pot shots to get a ship to bail is also something a new player wouldn't necessarily want to do, so it seems fair, too.

It's not hard to determine where the xenon attack. Literally just fly to a border between them and a faction at the start of the game and you will almost always find them.

This might not be the type of game for me sadly. Everything just feels needlessly slow. Thanks for all of the input.

I mean if a million in a few minute is slow then I don't know what fast lol.

1. Start a new game
2. Get a marine on your ship (hire any NPC for cheap, and set them as a marine)
3. Fly to Faulty Logic VII (Keep in Cruise flight to zip through the Xenon mines everywhere)
4. Find (western mid area of initial region) the HoP Destroyer - Right near some massive asteroids for ease to locate.
5. Send NPC (Marine) to board ship to claim it for you
6. Sell it to a shipyard
7. Profit a good handful of millions. (Non-modded game usually nets you around 5 - 8 million)
8. Start your empire - its a good cash kickstarter to get you moving.

Takes around 10 minutes.

Lots of ways to make cash fast exploiting some mechanics in the game in your favor (check spoiler at own risk of making your play through way to easy) Buy Advanced Sats for cheap(80-90K a pop) sell for high (130-150K a pop) elsewhere - very fast money especially once you can carry 100+ (or multiple ships) at a time

Which is a fine result for those sectors, at that time in that particular happenstance.

For instance: In Great exchange IV (or at least the same one thatstation teleports to). I collected lodestone's, unstable crystals and spacefly eggs. I got lucky with eggs so I endt up getting a little over 50 in about 15 minutes. Converted them into caviar and have a nice 2+ million. Another time I found all of two eggs in that same time frame and sector.

Another time, in Xenon sector 451 (a day or two before I took it over, then subsequently lost it), Teladi had three Phoenix cap ships causing havoc.I ♥♥♥♥ you not, I spent that entire day JUST collecting their scraps. So 12ish hours of scavanging. Closer to 8 if I cut off the time before actual scavanging in that particular sector. Up to my eyeballs in PFA's and space fly eggs plus a few other less valuable valuables. Had 20,000,000 by the time I was done. Had to frequently dive through the gate too because the Xenon took a liking to me from time to time. Never had a scavange that good since. Lucky if I get a tenth of that.

Which is why I say that trying to time it even remotely is pointless.
