And it says anchor space is Argon Prime/ Argon Prime
So he can't actually mine and because he set to silicon and sector automining on Argon Prime he pretty much dead in the water.
Mining work but its slowed now, resources deplet faster.
Is he mining at all ? is the cargo full and he is not selling ?
Do you have a trade computer onboard ?
Do you have sattelite coverage at the selling destiantions ?
Do you have resource probes deployed ?
For low-star autominers to be profitable you need a sector with both a high amount of the resource you want and at least one buyer for it.
Argon Prime has the latter but not the former.
For good starting sectors check Pious Mists XI and IV, Grand Exchange, Second Contact II, Segaris and Cardinal's Redress, those have plenty of minerals and usually a few refineries to sell to. Use the trade filters to check what's in demand where.
Your miner also needs to know what stations are buying, so you need to either place satellites or have a ship constantly fly around to refresh trade information.
So you have to find a sector that has both resource and refinery in same location.
Certain sector though counts as the same one.
A good example is grand exchange it is connected by super highway instead of gates or accelerators and is counted as one sector.
So a sector autominer who is anchored in grand exchange can mine and sell in all three grand exchange sector.
Now back to my question is he a silicon miner?
If so I don't think silicon is even in Argon Prime so that might be why he acting strangely.
Ohh okay so he is currently a silicone miner because I switched him off of ore because he wasn't selling so I wanted to see if he would sell what he has. As far as the options how do I get his stars to go up when it comes to mining because he's a 2 star pilot but the auto mine option has 0 stars
Miners and traders don’t really level up piloting well because of low amount of leveling procs.
Combat and exploration is how you get 3-5 star pilot
They only cost 50k each to join, their missions usually pay more than the general missions you can grab and if you spend your time cruising around Segaris and Antigone you get mission offers from both in either sector.
The missions that give 2-star seminars also often give 1-2 1-star seminars (look at the briefing) for completing their sub steps so it's pretty fast and you need to do something to earn money anyway, might as well get that extra benefit.
