Syn is bad for boarding, this intended?
Is the syn not programmed to stop shooting even when its role in the boarding op is fulfilled? anything i tell it to board it blows to oblivion even if i already destroyed all the attachment manually. if it disarm its turrets it just uses its main guns

You can effectively pirate the whole universe with just two dragons, a cobra, and a nemesis. You can disable turrets in a single shot, depending on the load out.

For my terran play, I use two gladius, a katana, a jian, and a falx. The only time I bring my syn around is to cover my marine boats while I disable ships with my katana/ gladius.

I've never bothered using a destroyer, carrier, etc as a board ship. I've never needed to. Though I do believe the asgard has the highest crew capacity of every ship in the game.

Just out of interest, I put my turrets to missile defence,
and remove any board / attack instructions after launching marines. if you put turrets to defend is there not a risk that a shot from the target will hit you and all the turrets will open up.
Also, If you get boarding to very high very high, and land your marines, damaging the hull down to 70% or so will still get the boarding done faster.
Now, Is there any way to get your marines to board at the same time, I have too many instances of marines breaking the hull in their 5's and being wiped out before the other 995 marines can get through the hull. Even when launched from 1 ship.
OK the 995 is a slight exaggeration..
I don't think I've ever bothered boarding with a capital ship. I cripple the prize with a corvette first, then bring in troop transports (usually cobras) to take it in a single action. This is good enough for liberating pirate destroyers. I imagine you'd need to make several attempts on a larger and better defended target.

The Syn is the best ship in the game for boarding that I've found. I stalk my prey until they're finally sitting still - like when docking or just sitting in space waiting for something. Then I fly the Syn directly under their belly, disable the turrets, set boarding to "very high" and "very high", then launch the marines. Once all the pods are off, travel mode out of there lickety split and wait to see if enough rines landed to take the ship.

The Syn is pretty good at turning, holds a lot of marines, and it can easily tank a little turret fire while you're making an escape. The top speed is lower than other destroyers so that can be a little irritating, but overall it's the perfect pirate vessel.

The upside of doing it this way is that you don't take any REP hits with the faction that owns the ship (you didn't shoot it) - and you can immediately sell for top dollar because the ship is undamaged (you didn't shoot it).

I mean, you can destroy turret and shield placements in a single hit with the right setup on a dragon/ nemesis. While I hate the boson lance and mass driver, they both make good turret killers.

If you use torpedoes/ mortars, you can destroy several at once on some ships.

The only reason to bring a bigger ship with you is to protect your marine boats. Truly you don't need anything bigger than a Katana, Dragon, or Nemesis to do the attacking and a Cobra or Falx for the marines.

All Good points, but im trying to find the best ships to capture with while im not around.

I've targeted a small HOP fleet that is going thru Heretic's end. I have a fleet on patrol there and i want to capture it with as little intervention as possible. But as the game is, all ships in that fleet (Katanas, galdius, <insert S/M ship here>...)stop firing, EXCEPT my Syn. For some reason the syn thinks its a corvette and will do head on attack runs with its main guns.

Regardless whatever settings I put in the boarding options, Syn will ignore it unless its maintain distance. Ive been in sec and oos, changed pilots 1-4 stars, disabled turrets, Even killed everything solo and just left a naked boarding target at 65-80% hull. Sofar the only option that has worked is to recall it from the op after pods have launched. But if any late drones or a laser tower spam happens my fighters get beatup.

Doesnt seem like anyone here has a working auto pirate fleet yet so ill keep testing. If im doing it manually i just need my moreya with a Buffalo. Just kill the targets engines then fall back to fight the escorts with the buffalo as a shield. just kill the turrets and the ship is basically yours in 5-10 mins.
