I think this error from X4 or nvidia driver not from setting.
Literally, no other game make CTD, Zero, 0 other game.
sometimes I play long sometimes meet few CTD in 5min.
i dont know why but you have to find out.
hope fix this ASAP
Recently i really enjoy this game, please dont make me stop.
So in order to avoid the heat buildup, I simply run MSI Afterburner in the background (great program as it appears to be compatible with nvidia cards made by other manufactures) with a pretty aggressive Fan Curve to keep the Temperatures down on the GPU. It is very important however not to overclock your GPU and keep it GPU running at stock performance. It might also be helpful to remove any overclock to your CPU and Memory (including XMP Profiles) as these settings will also increase heat within the computer case. Remember heat is the enemy in this situation we have to keep the GPU cool.
A recommend you watch a youtube video by JayTwoCents called "Simple ways to increase GPU performance for FREE". Pay close attention to the portion discussing setup of the Fan Curve within MSI Afterfurner. Ignore the part about overclocking, this is important as the goal again is to limit heat buildup within the GPU. I found that this solution, greatly diminishes the crashes is suffered during gameplay. Now instead of getting a crash every 20 minutes, I only get one every 4 to 5 hours, which in my opinion makes the game playable.
For your information my setup is: 9900K CPU, EVGA Geforce 3080, and 32 Gigs of Ram, Running X4 Foundations Beta 4 Patch 8.
I hope this solution helps you and anybody else running into this issue, it did for me, and have been having a blast playing X4 Foundations. Best of luck.
thanks for practical reply first.
my system consist 10700k, asus 3080 rog strix, 32gb
and max temperature of GPU is only 66C.
PSU is seasonic gold gx-850
i think this will be more than enough to run X4 with pretty good setting.
also actual performance include temperature is also stable.
but CTD is happen. nvidia driver ver is updated. ( i will wait next update for this, dont want to roll back old version.)
anyway, even that temperature, i will try to adjust fan curve.
hope this will work to me too
thanks again :D
You should also check your computer case and make sure it has adequate airflow. I remember a friend of mine had is computer tucked away inside a cabinet, because his wife did not like the look of the computer. It would crash all the time due to lack of Airflow.
You are right, GPU should be stable at 66c. Your computer specs are also more than capable for running X4 without issues.
So I decided to review the temps for my GPU, during my last play session; they sat around 58c the majority of the time, however I did see spikes in GPU temp! These spikes did not go above 64c during the entire session (about 3 hours).
Hope this helps. best of luck.
this is my best gess had a 850 psu did not cope
850 watt is plenty of power. 750 watt is recommended for a 3080/3090 with I5/17 CPU's, and 850 watt is recommended for thread ripper/I9 unless you have the 3090 w/ thread ripper/HEDT. The OP has an I7 and the 3080 so 850 is more than enough.

It is most definitely driver related. New GPU's always have issues with drivers, and the RTX 3000x series cards seem worse than previous generations for some reason. I see reports on almost every game I play of people having issues with them.
EDIT: Oh. I have W10 1909, so maybe it was luck, or maybe it work even for this version.
Another thing to check out when it comes to GPU-related crashes would be the OS itself. For example, when I got my current PC I had Windows 10 pre-installed, but for some reason it had issues with DirectX on several games and DX-drivers couldn't be renewed. An inplace-upgrade (basically the MS-online-repair-installation) fixed that.
Also, hate to say it, but constant driver-crashes can also point towards defective hardware.
One of my old GPU's had constant driver-crashes for a few years (on a few specific games) and then it stopped working entirely.
