Annoyingly, if a station is mining multiple resources it's also very difficult to put a number on exactly how many units of a particular ore your miners have, or could have, gathered in the part hour so you can compare that to station requirements and figure out the number of extra miners you might need. Because you don't have a record of what miners were mining what during the period.
This is one advantage of the single resource mining station model to supply your factories. It's a lot easier to figure out exactly how much a single resource mining station can mine per hour.
Otherwise the strategy is "if they're not getting enough, buy a couple more miners and rinse and repeat until they are.
yield is silicon > ore, at least regarding my ressource probes
the numbers of mined ressources is pretty reliable as i dont use mine for station but sector mining and sell only to my station
equipment and pilotlevel are comparable and distance might be a factor but both mining fleets are all over the sector (asteroid belt)
rinse and repeat is my approach for the moment and i guess will be for the time being and since i dont usually enter the system a few dozen/hundred miners shouldnt be that hard to calculate oos :D
For example i know from that that my Chthonios Sentinels in Pious Mists XI take about 20-25 minutes between silicon deliveries with a 1 sector sell range, so when building a station there i calculate with a hourly rate assuming 25-minute deliveries.
