I'm just agreeing with the op. I tested and uninstalled today already.
I tried (and succeeded) to find my way back to my own sector doing missions along the way. Mostly the low paid ones where you are a basicall a taxi. Also discovered lots of other sectors in the process. Also killed a few crims round friendly stations. That earned me enough rep to unlock trade missions.
You get given another scout ship. Use it to survey the local sectors round your new station. Discovered some indie faction, they gave me some work and gave me a freightor
Managed to save a enough for a small mining ship. Put that to work while I used my scout ship to uncover everything in my own sector and laying down my own satellites so I could get real time trade info.
Soon had enough to build the dock and more.
