No worries, once you have found their local Nest and have smoked them out the Map will return to a Normal Size.
so, just setup some 350 scouts in all 6 hex corners and one of them will find it.
other than that.. the Kha'ak do come from their Station, so keep your eyes open to get a guess of the rough direction you have to take.
That was actually the first thing I tried. This particular nest seems to be well hidden...
Gotta request factions looking for them too here... It puts the Xenon in a particularly bad position when they have a nest as there is no one looking for them. Or, at least exclude Xenon controlled sectors from the mechanic. :/ - By controlled I mean that they actually need to control a sector for that, once they loose the mechanic should turn back on.
Thanks for the tip though, I was already looking for my Nexusmod password to get the 1000km LRS and combine it with the spherical one...
Mind sharing or giving a hint to what that mod is? I may be interested.
The problem is that they don't have the ships to get mad at them in the first place. The only Xenon system in the left half of the Quadrant in my game, that hasn't been already overrun, or is in progress to be, by the split is Matrix 75B; And that is probably due to the I guarding it.
The Spear of Odin is also still devastating Savage Spur, right now attacking their Warf, which is also their last station there. None of the Xenon in Matrix seem to care though. I just hope it returns to Terran space, once it's done, so the Xenon can take a breath...
It's several mods and they are called "faction enhancer". No idea if they contribute to my Khaak problem, but I think they saved the Xenon from total annihilation.
E: Ok... Are Khaak travelling/Jump-driving between sectors? I couldn't find their nest in Getsu Fune, so either the Protectorate got there first, OR, the nest was 2 sectors away in Antigone Memorial... Which would be funy as I saw them as far away as in Savage Spur I.
I only found this one due to a satellite repair quest...
Honestly, i've never seen khaak outside of sectors without a hive, under normal circumstances where the encounter mechanics don't apply. If a khaak encounter happens, then they might follow a ship, lets say one of our miners, to within the sector's borders, giving the perception they're spawning there. Khaaks can fly at 500m\s, so can harass anything indefinitely until destroyed, and a proper L miner can tank some of them for a very long time while trying to haul it back home.
However, i've seen miners go out the sector borders and mine there, then i guess they are subject to random encounters too, which would explain khaak in sectors with no hive. Mind, this is a bit speculative.
A good way to find hives in huge sectors or sectors with environments that limit vision is to set a fast ship on a flight pattern around the sector's border, go in as a passenger and set the camera to external pointing to the infinity. Then just wait.
The other theory is that they can use their Jump drives for attacks...
350 scouts???!! that's a lot of clicking.
When Kha'ak spawn there is always a hive. The hive can be as much as 2 sectors away from the spawn, but there is one out there, somewhere.
