That's what i meant when i wrote that doing war missions over and over is annoying..... I'm going to edit my post to make it a bit clearer what I meant, sorry.
I'm sorry, but this is working as intended.
Ah, bummer. Oh well, off to do the same mission again.... for the 50th time now..... -_-
Please discuss the OPs idea with the team. We don't have a grindy MMO here (and it should stay that way) - so working as intended doesn't cut it. The paintjobs are great, but the limitation is not.
At least some unlimited colors for marking the fleets would be very appreciated. As fleets consists of hundreds of ships it isn't feasable to do (randomized!) missions for several months in order to get one fleet outfitted. Even in X one player set goal doesn't last that long - especially if it only is about equipping a fleet. (assembling a fleet for one purpose is a short- to midterm goal, grinding for months to get hundred paints is just a pain in the ***)
Some higher stacks then 1 could be a solution - maybe bound to paintjob quality (10x/5x/3x?).
When the Paint Mods were introduced it was never intended to Paint whole Fleets in them... only Special Ships..
Before Ventures were suspended it was common to just send your Venture Ship on missions to have a constant Paint Mod income... well.. right now not even i have access to all those Paintjobs that are buried in my account.
Why? It's a single player game in which you can eventually own hundreds of ships, what reasoning is there to have grindy ship paints you have to apply individually? I've seen mods that allow these paints to be bought for cheap, but almost as annoying as getting them is applying them, especially when you decide to change your faction theme. It just doesn't make any sense and is decidedly unfun, to the point where I just ignore paints and see them as reward pool dilution.
It would make more sense to unlock the paints as a normal faction wide paint once you reach some faction threshold, like at 10 and 20 rep. I just don't see any logic behind the current system.
Lets say it how i understood the Paint Mods when i heard about them for the first time...
they were meant to flavour your Ships you send on Ventures... for Show so to say.
Hey look, i have send you this tiny Ship with this awesome Paintmod... now fear my mighty Discoverer because it looks Badass.
This and for very personal use on, what do i know, your personal Ship, your Flagship and other Special Ships you eventually have in your Player Museum.
i totally agree that one would want to have a certain Painting on every ship or this Fleet with this and that Fleet with that.
But making them obtainable at aevery vendor would turn them into regular Items... nothing one would do a mission for... if i could i would Paint everything i have in the "Warden" Theme... but thats reserved for only the Ships i use personally...
There are discussions about that matter over on the official Forum, so, feel free to participate there... the more rumblings are made on the Main Forum the higher the chances...
It's paint, some of them are just basic colors. Why do I have to jump through hoops because I like a certain color more and it's only available in "special paint?" It's more like having a blue tennis ball you are only allowed to serve once and then you have to use a normal green ball the rest of the tournament, just because. The blue ball is special, except it's not, getting one of these paints is trivial, getting 5-10 is easy, there is nothing special about them, nothing to show off. They are just another way to customize your ships that is for some reason really awkward and tedious.
The paint would be more "special" or "badass" if it actually required some effort to unlock, but to that end there is no reason why we should only be able to paint a few of our ships that color. Make a paint require 30 rep to use, but then able to be applied to all of our ships like a normal paint, that's a lot more work than getting a single copy of the paint by cheesing some trivial mission and sending that ship off in a venture.
If they were usable as individual or default skins I could just pick from anywhere in a menu, they would at least get used. As it is, though, they're just not relevant. Individual ships just aren't that important. So I guess it's white and gold for me for the foreseeable future, which I like because it's similar the USN paint scheme in the 1900s; https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:PostcardUSSConnecticutBB18No1268.jpg
