How do you guys deal with pirates attacking your trade fleets
I keep losing sooo many traders to pirates especially in Eighteen Billion and I am wondering if there is a way to quell them once and for all. I have literally inundated the system with 5 patrol destroyers and tons of fighter craft but they still persist and my fleets cannot react fast enough. Is there some base I can pop similar to the khaak hives?

police patrols if it a sector you own.

if not having fast trade ships with the escape option as default is the way to go as something that can't catch you can't harass you.

There are several ways.

1] Find their base and destroy it

2] put an obstacle between their base and your ships.... ie a small patrol or Defense Platform

3] Make friends with them

4] Black List those vulnerable sectors and fly your freighters another route.

Is there any way I can set flee as the default option? I can't seem to find this

Will killing the SCA bases in hewas twin + silent witness get them to go away?

it in global orders.
I think the default is actually fight or something but I always change it to flee

I never tried killing them off. I'm a friendly guy I basically play with only Xenon and Khaak in my gun-sights

God mode :P

No for real, let fighter protect the Traders that need toi fly into Dangerous sectors
I would never blow up a pirate base, they are a source of income. For one i have the only fully stocked shipyards in the galaxy, so they buy from me. When they are stupid enough to attack my ships, they escape 100 percent of the time and text me the pirates location.

I then kill the pirate crew and repossess that ship. I'm more worried about them running into Xenon I's rather then pirates, Teladi don't know how to keep their sectors clean.

In short I ignore pirates and global order my freighters (i.e. civilian ships) to escape when harassed by pirates. In virtually all cases both M and L class freighters can escape S & M pirates. There are however e.g. FAF pirates that roam around in Rattlesnake destroyers. These jokers do occasionally destroy my M class freighters. There's nothing much one can do about them really. One M freighter is worth about 500k and to potect it from a Rattlesnake is going to cost at least 20 times that. I just swallow the attrition, it's not too bad.

If I feel like it I do go after these jokers in Rattlesnakes occasionally if I got time. especially if they get cheeky and kill two or three of my ships in quick succession.

I don't think you can actually get rid of pirates. If you kill them they spawn some more I think. You could I guess destroy all the pirate bases but then were would you buy black market stuff from when you need it? HAT I guess but they don't always have everything in stock. You can also do a terraform mission in Scale Plate Green to get immunity from (at least) Scale Plate Pact pirates but that's not something to take lightly as you'd have to evict the Xenon first.

Besides the pirates don't just go for your ships, they kill everyone's, so in some ways they are good for business. :steammocking:

You can also simply set "comply" as fixed response for pirate harassment, in the global orders.

You occasionally lose some cargo, but it's easier than having to set slow patrols everywhere, and replacing every destroyed freighter.

The easiest way to deal with FAF Rattlesnakes is to get them to -20 rep and park a few destroyers near the gate to Heart of Acrimony.
You'll have to clear out the ones already active throughout the universe but after that you shouldn't have any more trouble with them.

For SCA you can either go for the terraforming option to unlock their rep or just use the faster freigthers - Demeters for example can simply outrun pirate Minotaurs, Phoenixes and Behemoths so they don't have any problems when set to auto-escape.

I was a little blown away that only 7% of players have "joined" the SCA. You don't even have to do the terraforming, you just fly to their base and talk to their rep.

to be fair hewa twin is in the middle of nowhere.
Not alot of player probably fly there.

I went there because I once set up my base in turquoise sea and that place is beautiful! :steamhappy:

I set up a secondary base there. quite easy to defend, so far. Lots of local trade. I just finished building a large defense station.... then turned it into a Wharf. I may add a Shipyard too s oI can use the base for general fleet preparations.
