you also are already applying the most usefull things to accomplish it.. it aparently is just the course that is bad for your ship.

How do I trigger track change? It seems I failed 3 times and got the same track...
Are you reloading the save? There is no penalty for failing, and if you fail and start the mission over again you should get a different course.
Yes I was reloading a save, but first couple of times I failed and it gave me the same course...
I have Pegasus Vanguard with Mk3 travel drives but can not boost then travel, as soon as I engage travel drive the ship instantly slams on the brakes drops to 200 kmh then slowly accelerates.
If you don't want to do that, you should probably use a combat engine sunce they don't have the ~3s delay to toggle to travel mode.
Alternatively - if you have the split expansion, you can get a split engine. They are the only race that has Mk4 engines.
Or if you have the boron expansion, get their scout (Irukanji). Way faster than the Pegasus.
